    angel eyes

i know many people have used angel eyes.  my groomer suggested i use it for the tear staining on one of my poodles. she said she never recommended anything like it before, but several clients have used it and she couldn't believe the difference in their eyes.  i noticed that charlee (he has epilepsy) has developed stains as well and was wondering if i could give it to him as well. i was just wondering if it has any adverse interaction with pb, zonisamide, kbr, etc?  i would never give it without checking with my vet, but i figured maybe someone on the site may have experience with it. i go to the ophthalmologist tomorrow, so maybe he can give me an answer.
    thanks so much

If he's on that much medication, definitely check with the vet. You can do some research online, though. The active ingredient in Angel Eyes is Tylan powder. It's an antibiotic.

And it DOES work, more times than not.

It worked 100% for my dog. I don't have to give it to him all the time either. It's more a couple of weeks twice a year or so. It is an antibiotic, but I feel that the red yeast that causes tear staining is probably not healthy. So antibiotics clear it up and then it's fine for quite awhile. Btw, absolutely no topical stain removers worked. The tearing is constant so the staining happens all the time.

I have Angel Eyes too, the only problem is giving it to her, she hates it.  I have given it to her in Peanut Butter in a kong, once in awhile she will eat it.  She does not eat canned food so that is out.  It has a very bitter taste, yes I tried a spot on my tongue to see.  No wonder they don't like it.  I am now giving her probiotics and that seems to work just as well.  This comes in a capsule, I just open one in Pb or put it in her water dish.

Definitely check with your vet. We have it and it works great. You have to use it consistently for a little while and, obviously, as the new hair grows in, clip the stained hair off. We haven't had to use it for a while now, but I keep it on hand in the fridge. My dogs liked the flavor, so that was never an issue. I found it most reasonably priced on Amazon.com
