Billy the Venturn e.c.spanYELL - *some* news

    • Gold Top Dog

We did a third blood panel last night.  The one two weeks ago was a "little" better (about 15 - 25% better).  I wasn't satisfied.  I really wasn't.

so ... *I* cranked up the milk thistle.  BIG time.  I went to 3 droppersful of the tincture twice a day (which is about 50% above the adult human dose) AND I gave him three capsules twice a day of a good brand (NOW) of ground herb milk thistle (again about 150% of the human dose).  Sooooooo let's say he was taking milk thistle for 3 adult humans?? A 28# dog.

    *grin*

The values are nearly completely middle of the road.  He's got one value that's up about 20% higher than it should be out of ALL the various liver values.  The rest are bang almost in the middle or at least within range.

BEST OF ALL -- his albumin (that's a protein value they check both in blood and urine -- and Billy's has *always* been off) and THAT is within range.

     RAH!!!!!  That truly is awesome.

So we gotta keep on keeping on.

    What else did we do?

Bitter herbs -- I bought "wild greens" (you know the wild lettuce greens in the store?) and I pureed those and added them to their food.  That also included parsley.  I also added radishes (yep raw radishes) -- I pureed half a dozen of those and added THOSE to last week's food.

Bitter herbs and radishes -- they help purify the liver.

Did they like them? Oh yeah.  No one complained (not one of the four).  I figured who wouldn't benefit from a little liver cleansing?

Believe it or not she also asked me to feed him shrimp for a meal (and yes, I did -- and yeah, *I* had some too!  pfffftttt!!!)

At this point I figured I was gonna do about anything to reduce those liver values.

But we won.  I am SO happy with these blood results.  We're not completely clear yet but it is a far more dramatic lowering of the liver values than before.

Again -- I knew I could crank up the milk thistle without any adverse reaction -- that's one of the advantages of using the herb rather than a pharmaceutical.

Excuse me whilst I do the HAPPY DANCE!!!!!

But-- I also gotta say, it's been abundantly clear the last three days that the boy FEELS GOOD!!  Not only is is dancing around like he's hearing James Brown in the background ("I feeeeeel gooooooooooooooooooooooood!!"';) but he's been playful and just plain showing me in all the Billy ways that he's feeling better!

    whooooooooooooo HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~

    • Gold Top Dog

YAY BILLY!! Maze is doin the happy dance with ya'll!

    • Gold Top Dog
Oooooooh Billy - you KNOW I'm happy for ya!
    • Gold Top Dog

    That's great Callie!

    • Gold Top Dog

Just found this and glad to hear that all is under control once again!  Yay for Billy!!!

    • Gold Top Dog

     That's awesome!!!

Why the shrimp? That sounds so weird, LOL. Emma LOVES shrimp, so she says if they're good for her liver, she'll just HAVE to eat them.

It's something about the fish, Dr. Dodd's liver cleansing diet uses whitefish too.

Blech, she can have mine. I only like when they cook them on the hibatchi at the Japanese steakhouses...yum!

I wonder if Pirate would eat shrimp. He def likes fish...

    • Gold Top Dog

Nope shrimp was specifically liver-cleansing -- not just typical 'fish' -- she was pretty danged specific *sigh*

Willow -- sorry I missed your question above "pharmaceutical" means manufactured or re-engineered in a pharmacy setting -- not occuring in nature ("natural";).  Marin and Denosyl aren't "natural" -- because they don't naturally occur.  Marin is specifically altered to make it stronger -- they literally take components from the milk thistle to take directly those things that are liver-cleansing to put it in Marin.

Pharmaceutical doesn't mean 'prescription' -- aspirin is a pharmaceutical altho it's origin is willow bark. Make sense?

FURTHER UPDATE:  Dr. D got back the re-visited results and his GTTP ***IS*** normal.  She was right -- their equipment was off on that and GTTP is in normal range now.

Cool! I'll get the girl some shrimp. She'll be super happy. I'll get her a bag of the nasty greens, too, LOL. I'm back to making big batches of veggie-ful food, because she's OMGSTARVING so  that'll work out fine.

I'll tell her Aunt Callie told me about the shrimp, LOL. She'll love you even more!

    • Gold Top Dog

My whole 'crew' is dancing with joy!! I'm so glad that Billy feels soooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!!!!! YEEP!

    • Gold Top Dog

Callie, what good news!!!!!!!!!!!!  Billy, you keep on eating what your Mom gives you and you'll be fine.

So happy to hear he is feeling good.

    • Gold Top Dog

And I am so just picturing Billy dancing around to James Brown.  "I feel good, na na na na na nah, I knew that I would now"  Cuz I'm *sure* Billy knew you'd fix it.

My crew is jealous, I've never shared shrimp with them :o)

    • Gold Top Dog

Totally awesome news Callie!!!! Just wonderful.

Errrr, did I Err??  Did *I* give you the impression that *I* shared with HIM??? noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo -- HE shared with me!!  *sigh*

or ... wait a minute -- did I go out FOR shrimp so that I would have to keep some as leftovers for Billy ...

now I'm truly not sure.  as Fagin says in "Oliver Twist" *the musical*

"I think I have to think it out ... AGAIN!!"
