    Grooming competition brag

I've mentioned my doing this on here a few times, so I thought some you might be interested.Smile  The Show was the U.S. Pet Pro Classic in Dallas.

I placed second with my Standard Poodle (non-sporting over 17";), and second with a client's Bichon Frise (non-sporting under 17";).  The judge (who is a respected Bichon breeder and handler) awarded me with the best first timer for the division.  I was the only fist-timer at the show that placed, so we were the only ones applicable for the "best first timer award."  Nine-hundred Hanvey bucks!  I'm going to buy a bathing system or clipper vac system..

I met up with a bunch of my internet friends, made a bunch of new friends, attended some amazing seminars, and bought some nice new DVDs and other grooming toys.  The hotel was pretty frightening, be we all survived.  I now have a two plaque-type things, and a nice dramatic resin eagle trophy to display in my salon.Smile

FYI, that brown stain on Presley's rear leg is a saliva stain that is all cleared up.  Boo isn't stacked very well in either of these pictures...the second picture was his first experience on a show lead.

I also have to say, after looking at the photos again (what can I say, I'm a nerd, LOL) that you've done a fantastic job training Presley to stand on the table. He looks very at ease with being looked at. That is not really super easy to train. Any tips? I'm table training Ena, now.

LOL, He honestly just came like that!  When I bought him at 8 months, he had wonderful table manners.   The gal who had him before me was a groomer as well, and you can tell she worked with him often.  I take NO credit for that....

    I can't think of any advice/tips beyond the obvious...repetition, patience and +R.

Wow. We must have walked right past each-other and not even known it! I was only privileged to go on Saturday/Sunday when they were doing the creatives. There was a lion and a tiger, and a carosel horse. It was so cool! Loved the lectures too.

I am happy I get to be in a city where there's grooming seminars. Although I spend WAY too much money on them. Got talked into the Groomer's Helper and it definitely was not a regret! LOL

Congrats again!  Your pups look great!

LOL, how funny! I pretty much missed the creatives as I was trying to get my last-minutes shopping done.  Did you go to the creative runway show?  Now THAT was an experience, LOL.Stick out tongue  I agree, the seminars were awesome!  I have a ton of notes to sort through.

You won't be sorry you sunk that money into the GH.  Totally worth it, IMO, and Chuck is so nice to work with.
