    Finding a good dremmel

I don't have any grooming stores around here, which SUCKS!. But I'm looking to buy a dremmel. Maze HATES her nails being clipped but I can file them with a nail file so I was thinking about investing in one and since I know nothing about grooming, I figured I'd ask here! Lol

Any advice on where I can get a decent one for a good price. Thanks!

I bought my dremmel at lowes it was a rechargeable one. You can get them at Lowes, Menards, Home Depot or even at Walmart. You will want a cordless one a 2 speed will be fine. Expect to pay about $40.00 to $100.00 Dollars for one. I use the Drum sanders you must be careful NOT to (OVERHEAT) their nails as it will HURT them. I Hold thier nails to tell how Hot the nail is getting if it gets hot I come bact to it later. I use lower Speeds so that it will not scare them Lower speeds does not heat up as fast eithor.

I'll have to take a look at the Home Depot here. I never even thought to go there.. Dunno why just never crossed my mind.

    Thanks!

I bought this one at Walmart and love it.  I then bought the sanding drum attachment at Home Depot.  I was kind of dumb and couldn't figure out how to change the attachments at first, I'm not good with tools.  But once I got it figured out, it worked great.

I also found this tutorial to be very helpful.

I don't have a Walmart anywhere near where I live.

Thanks for the link! I'll have to check it out.

I don't think they carry them in the stores, I got mine online.  Delivered right to my door.  Big Smile

I have the previous version of the miminite with 5,000 and 10,0000 rpms.  I personally wouldn't want a corded version.  If this can grind Bugsy's nails it can grind any dog's nails Big Smile His are large, fast growing and hard, hard hard - nothing wears them down

So does Maze. Her nails are like rock so I'm glad to hear it works on strong nails. Smile

I bought one with a cord from our local farm supply store because it was on sale for $18.  To get a cordless one would have been a minimum of $40, I think.  I went cheap.  I *definitely* think that cordless would be a lot handier, though.  The cord is a pain in the butt.  Lesson learned.

It works great otherwise, though!  Good thing that Luke is good about staying still and in one spot.

check some of the hardware companies in Canada, also look at Amazon and eBay.  The minimite I got at Walmart was $20

Right here at dog.com, but this is the home grooming version, and may not be powerful enough: http://www.dog.com/item/pet-nail-grooming-kit/

Or the one I would suggest, still here at dog.com: http://www.dog.com/item/dremel/

^This is what I have. I put rechargeable batteries in it, and it works great. I did get a 1/2" sanding drum instead of the 1/4" it came with...works a lot better, IMO.
