    Heavy Breathing... Please Help

    Hi Guys

I have a cute female doggie named Fluffy
    Breed: Spits
    Age: 5 years

She is usually very active but recently, she started heavy breathing. The symptoms are like this:
    - Congestion in breathing / Heavy Breathing
    - Humid season or excessive excertion makes her feel uncomfortable
    - Increase in weight
    - Wheezing sound... specially when in streched neck posture
    - Water from eyes
    - Nose - almost dry

Please guide me what shud I do. I am really worried about fluffy.

    Thanks
    Ricky & K2

Has fluffy seen a vet?  If not, that would be the first course of action.  You should make an appointment immediately.

The best bet is to take her to a vet.  Most likely the weight gain is either causing or adding to her breathing problem.  The weight gain could be from an under active thyroid, or just from simply over feeding.  The only way to know for sure is to have a vet check her out.

    Hi Guys

I took her to a Vet and he has declared asthma.
I am from India and the Vet Science in India is not much developed. The Vet declared her Asthamatic without any Chest X Rays or ruling out any other complications that may create same symptoms. Please guide me what to do.... I am worried

    Thanks

Ricky - talk to a homeopath.  But also -- make sure a vet listens to her heart (with a stethoscope just like they'd use to listen to a human heart).  Those are also symptoms of heart problems and that's probably more likely.

But -- there are a LOT of homeopathics that really help with asthma and allergies -- Not only do I control my own allergies/asthma with homeopathy, I have a dog having awesome results with them and honestly it's easier for you to find a good homeopathic physician in India than it is here.  Homeopathics are widely available there usually.  IF you can get them there (perhaps over the counter) the -Heel Asthma and Allergy formulas are very very good -- and the vet may know of them.

ricky, i feel your pain! i live in china so i know a little how it can be. i am not sure if the situation is maybe about the same as here, but i am thinking, if you live in a bigger city, there might be other vets, that will try more test, or at least listen to what you want run.

what i am trying to say is, dont dismiss good (or at least better than now) vet care, just because you havent found it yet. you might be surprised! at least i hope!!

did the vet give you any medication? maybe try and see what it does...

Is she on heartworm prevention?  Are there heartworms in India??

Ricky, if you click on "Edit Profile" at the top of a forum page, you can put in "India" as your location.  That way "India" will appear on the left when you post and members will be less likely to give you information that is not relevant to you.

I was just reading about heartworms, and it seems they ARE in India, or COULD be.

Specifically, what does this "weight gain" look like?  Is it a distended abdomen???

I'm asking because the first few symptoms sound to me like advanced heartworm infestation.
