Sore neck?

    Sore neck?

I have a 5 year old soft coated wheaton terrier.

Suddenly today he started yelping. We checked all his joints and ended up figuring out that every time he lays his head down, he yelps.

We've given him some baby asprin and that has seemed to help a bit but I'm quite worried.

Note: I also have a 5 year old female wheaton and she had this problem a while back also. But she ended up having something else wrong with her.

Any opinions on what's going on would be greatly appreciatedSmile

honestly, only a vet and some x-rays can tell you what is going on with your baby. I would mke an appointment ASAP to have her examinied.

ETA: have you checked her ears for an infection? That's the only thing else I can think of.

Absolutely what Erica said -- you have to diagnose a problem like that in order to treat it ... and the ear infection thot is a good one as well.  VET ... a.s.a.p.

Definitely see a vet and get some x-rays.  That is the only way to isolate the problem.

One of my brothers has a very sweet soft coated wheaton terrier that I am quite fond of.  I got an enthusiastic Whe'tin gre'tin earlier this year.  big laugh  I had never had a 40-lb dog bounce off of me before.

I hope your dog is feeling better soon!

VET......as soon as possible, that is how my little April started when she had Disk  disease.

My cairn has a compressed disc in his neck; he had great pain.  You need to go to the vet and get X-rays to find out for sure.  We have to monitor his activities and use a harness now.

I totally agree - go see a vet. But one other idea I had was that it could me meningitis? My dog got aseptic meningitis when he was around 8 months (he was a Bernese Mountain Dog). I hope it's not that in your case as it can be very serious, but it was just a though I had. Jethro (my dog) would yelp everytime you touched his neck, and he walked around really stiffly. In his case he miraclelously healed himself a few days after he was diagnosed, so that was a blessing. Hope everything turns out okay when you take him in!
