    All's Well...and All's natural

Well after last weekend's scare with my senior girl (15), she seems to have weathered the storm. KUDOS TO CALLIE!! The camomile tea was a great stomach settling agent for her and helped her get through till Monday. And she loved it!

Now the strange part. She had some Flagyl and recovered nicely showing a difference after 12 hours. I had stopped giving her any meds except her heart meds. Stoppped the anti inflammatory totally and gave her no more tramadol. And she hasn't had any since! Now, I am following my gut with this one. She doesn't limp, she is not groaning. She gets a little stiff after laying around, and she walks really slow....but she walks fine. She is a little weak in the hind quarters but nothing that keeps her from taking a little walk down the street and getting some "nose time" in amongst the green areas smelling the critters out here. Her legs tremble a little when I go to touch them sometimes, but she will let me put my hand over her little knee/ankle and gently rub it. She is taking her Glycoflex III (has for 2 years I reckon) and two DGPs per day. That's it! Last night she was having wonderful dreams of chasing a bird (she always LOVED to chase birds) and was barking inside her throat up a storm I tell ya! She was AFTER that critter. Made me smile. Now, I am just holding on to that NSAID until she really does need it. Meanwhile, I need to try and follow up with some other herbs and naturals that will be good for her.

Leela, my chow with HD, is on Nutrajoint...two months now....and I swear I think she is showing signs of strength!!

Thank you Callie, from the bottom of OUR hearts, for your guidance.

I'd really get after her with massage and the essential oils like peppermint and wintergreen.  Add more chammomile since she' likes it -- she can have 1-2 cups of 'tea' a day (or put the herb in with slippery elm?? Whatever works) and add a relaxant herb like valerian or oat seed.  That will help the little bit of chammomile help a bunch.

How much does she weigh?  If you need an nsaid you could add a wee tiny bit of willow bark (like my 30 # Foxy took 1/3 of a capsule which is really minimal but effective).

Hmm...sounds like "the girls" will have a "tea" party!!!Coffee

Now, Where do I get the slippery elm? and where do I get the willow bark?

We did a little massage last night...

She is greeting me at the door again and I LOVE it!
