    Mushy and watery poop

Need some help. My one year old dog was diagnosed with Giardia when we first got her 8 months ago. She was treated and all seemed well. Recently I am having some issues with her. Out of the blue with no change in food she gets random mushy and watery poop. She poops regularly, but every few days or so it is mushy and watery and she is hunched over a bit trying to get it all out.

The vet indicated we could give her a teaspoon of metamucil in her food daily to keep her solid. I am just a little worried. Could this still be Giardia again?

Her appetite is solid and so is her energy level. Any thoughts???

Yep!!  Giardia (bacteria) can be hard to detect and to completely eliminate from a dog's system.  It can also be in your yard or park.

However, undetected intestinal worms could also be the problem.  Panacur (by prescription) is a safe, effective wormer that will also get Giardia.  Safe-Guard is the same thing, but OTC.

If using a normal 3-day course of Safe-Guard seems to correct the current problem and since there is a history of Giardia, I would use the GreatDaneLady's program for getting rid of Giardia.  If dealing with a large dog or a number of dogs, see the post below for a very cheap way to worm using liquid Safe-Guard, rather than Safe-Guard granules.
