The dogs and cats all love it, but everyone but Cherokee gets too excited, and either tries to shove their butt in my face so I'll do his lower back (ahem..JAZ!), or get a little frisky and try to bite me (cats!). So I just use it on Cherokee.  She loves it, it gets out dead coat, and she's nice and calm while I brush. Oh yeah, I also use it for shampooing. Great for that, especially with a water-repellent coat.
