Well, folks, I received this in the mail a while back and now that the pups are doing their spring moulting, I really have a chance to try it out. It works remarkably well! Here's a picture of my husband brushing Rakka:
That was about halfway through the grooming session, and yes, I groom my dogs on a regular basis. This was quite dramatic because she's currently shedding her undercoat.
Conclusion: anyone wanting to try the furminator who is intimidated by the price, try this $9 knockoff that looks the same and works just as well. It's the Bamboo Deshedding Tool.
Oh yeah, I also bought a cheapie undercoat rake that works extremely well, too. Not *quite* as well as this deshedding blade, but quite well nonetheless. It would probably be better for longcoated animals as there's no risk of cutting the topcoat. Might be a little easier to use, too.
