Hey Billy!  It's your friend, Tracy, WAAAYYYYYYY out here in Oregon!  I just heard about your sore back and the "bugs" in your urinary tract and all the stuff they've been checking on you at the vets' office.  I'm so glad your Mom is so observant and tuned in to the tiny signals you give her when you're just not feelin' like yourself.  I know you're in excellent hands at home AND at the vet offices.  I just know they'll get you feeling super as soon as possible.  In the meantime, remember that there are a lot of us who are worried about you and are sending zillions of good vibes and healing thoughts your way.  If I were there, I'd give you several kisses on your curly ears!

Callie, as everyone else has said, you're the resource for so many of us . . . . all we can offer in return is support, which we gladly offer in heaping amounts!

Oh Pirate you are SUCH a silly boy.  Actually Billy knows only too well not to 'lick' the oils.  In fact, he'll come over and sit down, back to me, to ASKfor his back to be rubbed.  last night I got him to come up on the futon so I could really get "to" his back (since mine is sore too this weekend) and he stood like a rock for me to dribble some oil on and massage it.  Then .. I *thot* I was done.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo "more PLEASE mom??"  He stood there as if rooted to the spot waiting for MORE backrub!!  Of course I complied.

but just like me -- when I rub his back with either white flower oil or wood lock it puts us RIGHT to sleep.  It's mega relaxing.

I see less pain on his face today -- I'm not sure 'better' is a good word, but maybe 'improved a bit' is.  I HOPE.

Someone mentioned above what we've spent on vet bills.  Well, yeah -- and right along with that are MY medical bills -- so I'm not carrying a Coachman purse, and a boat isn't even on our list of "things that would be nice".  But it's just our choices vs. what others would do.  Shoot, we TOOK Billy 3 1/2 years ago, **because** we thot he was deaf from ear problems -- shoot, we figured at least we KNEW how to deal with those.

Absolutely agree. John Lennon said that "lfe happens when you're making plans" and that's the truth. Someone once said they'd never get a dog that had known health issues (like hip dysplasia) because the cost for that sort of issue is pretty high. And it is.

But what are you going to do when the unexpected turns up?

Exactly what you're doing, Callie. Exactly that.

PS--I have dogs with unexpcted medical expenses, too.

    Feel better, Billy!!

We'll take "improved a bit" any day of the week, Billy Boy! Keep your mama workin hard on those back rubs, and eat an extra cookie for Emma.

    • Gold Top Dog

Just checking in on Billy...and you too Callie!

Improved is an encouraging word!!!   Please give Billy a kiss from me and a bit slobber kiss from Bubblegum too!

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,and hang in there!!!!

Hi Billy, it's us - Sioux, Sequoyah, Maska, and Fergie.  We all want you to get better quick & so does our mom. Take advantage of those back rubs, though, in the meantime.

Sunday nite (9:25 p.m) when we got home while I was in his "favorite dedicated human room" ... a/k/a the bathroom ... he came and leaned his backend against me and shoved his forehead into my purse against the wall.  It was the loudest plea for a backrub I've ever seen.

So "we" went into the living room (shoot, I can sit and think in there ANY time ... this was important!!) and I got him up on the futon and did both his neck (I keep getting the feeling he has a headache along with everything else) right behind the skull AND the entire low back.  My hands gave out before he was ready for me to, but he's absolutely crashed next to David.

HOWEVER ... when we came home earlier he came up to me and put his front feet up on my knee -- he hasn't done that in several days.  THAT indicates to me the back feels at least a bit better.  He's not turning cartwheels but I'm not quite as worried as I was yesterday morning.

He also seems generally a bit 'happier' -- yes the tail has wagged pretty much all weekend but he's definitely feeling a bit better.  Surely not 'all better' but maybe it's a result of the extra milk thistle (which could bring down the liver enzymes).  OR ... **maybe** it is an infection and the antibiotic is finally beginning to have some effect.  I mean shoot, I've had infections before and the 2nd and 3rd day i felt WORSE rather than better until it began to kick in.
