Hi,
I’m new here and reading your posts to get the hang of this forum.
We are the proud parents of 3 ESS. My Beaux is 4 y/o and was in perfect health until he started dripping blood about two months ago, the vet checked him and thought it might be a UTI and put him on antibiotics for 15 days when I brought in a free fall urine sample. A week later his drips went from light pink to dark red so when the vet opened, DH brought him in. They did a sterile urine draw showing the blood is defiantly in his urine but the x-rays and CAT scan did not show any stones so they sent a blood sample out to see if his kidneys are working okay (for acute renal failure, cancer or any infections), meanwhile he was put on a different antibiotic that seamed to help. The urine analysis came back clean, no crystals, no bacteria, his blood work came back fine, his levels are all perfect.
Sunday he started dripping blood again… back to the vets back on antibiotics and they still can’t figure out what the blood is from! He is acting fine plenty of energy, eating okay, no problem passing urine… this morning the floor had dark red spots all over the place!!! DH thinks it might be the exam yesterday irritated his prostate (he is an intact male, tail too). We are thinking his prostate may be irritated from trying to mount Sadie (Beaux's S/O), again… but then one of the guys that works with DH had the same problem with his dog when they had their house remodeled. Apparently his dog got so excited with all the people coming and going that he started dripping blood too, but his dog stopped when the house was finished, our remodel finished late last month…
I’m at my wits end, we are thinking it would be better for him if we have him neutered. Both the girls are spayed.
