spayed and a trip to the beach

My boyfriedn made an appointment to get his 3 year old femaled boyer fixed on thrusday, not thinking that we were going to the beach thursday night through Monday. My question is, would it be ok to take her on a 4 hour car ride after her surgery? She will be kept in an aircontined RV, away from sand and water. I also have the phone number to the local vet that has emergancy services. Also what should we do to care for her after her surgery. It took forever to convice my boyfriend to get this done, as his brothers Yorkie died during her spaying.
Does anyone know of any good emergancy vets in the De beach area? I would like to get a back up for the one i already have.

I think she should be fine as long as you keep her crated during the ride to the beach so she doesnt end up bouncing around and possibly falling and opening any stitches. And as long as she doesnt actually go out onto the beach she will be fine.

Sorry I can help you with the vet thing, I am VERY far away from you [;)]

My concern would be the steps into the RV.  Mine are the two metal retractable steps and then three carpeted ones once you are actually IN the RV.  My vet typically tells me to avoid stairs for my crew after a surgery.  I'd also be concerned about the additional PEOPLE around that could get her upset or anxious.  I would put the surgery off for a week or reschedule the trip myself.

i don't thin you should have any proble, the pup will be as active as any post surgical pup should be...I think I would, however, put a sterile pad (hate to say this but I used to reccoment femanine pads) over the incision and wrap and ace bandage  around the body just to give  some support in case she gets too active and also to keep the sand and debri out...the trip should not bother the dog at all as long as there is an occaision scratching behind the ears...

As much as I'd hate to postpone it if it took your BF a long time to schedule it, I'm with Glenda on this one.  I'd just prefer not to take any chances.  My girl was pretty groggy the evening of the spay and really just wanted to lay somewhere quiet and sleep.  We also had to lift her into our SUV (not easy with a 75 lb dog) because we knew she'd tear the sutures if she jumped.  In addition, it seems like a waste of a fun trip for her where she could be playing and enjoying the getaway with everyone else.  If possible, I'd reschedule it for the next week and just plan to hang out close to home for a couple days after.
