Time period to "calm down" after neutering

I just had my 11 year old black lab neutered to cut down on the aggression toward my wife's male dog. He also got neutered last week.

Does the male dog body require a time period for their hormones to subside in their body after neutering? I would assume that the aggression won't decrease immediately..

    Ideas?

    Thanks,
    Chris

It will take weeks to see any changes, if you see any at all. As I understand it, the younger a dog is neutered, the more of an influence it will have on his behavior. However, if you had two intact males in the house previously and they have both been neutered you should see at least a slight improvement but it will take awhile. Best of luck to you. There is a lot of good information about managing dog aggression in the training and behavior forums here.

It takes about 30 days for the hormones to completly wear off but it may be longer before you see a slight change in behavor.

I suspect this is more than a routine castrational solution..After this length of time I doubt that you will see any major changes....but wait and see....
