Spayed this morning! :-)

    Spayed this morning! :-)

Roxie was spayed this morning.  I dropped her off at 8:00 a.m. and went on to work.  She was on my mind all morning.  This is my first female dog, so I've never dealt with spaying like I have neutering.

I visited her this afternoon after work, and she was still a bit groggy.  She lay her head on my knee and just looked up at me with those big eyes; I nearly cried ... but didn't want to in front of the vet techs.  LOL!  I had some errands to run, so I stopped back by after finishing those.  They said she hadn't "pottied" yet.  I took her out into the grassy field behind the establishment, used "go pee-pee", and she went on cue.

It was hard to leave her, because I could sense how she wanted to come home ... but I had no choice.  She'll be ready to come home at 8:30 tomorrow morning, so you can bet I'll be there.  LOL!  Sorry for the rambling ...

Gosh, I miss my little girl so much ... [:(]

Is she home yet?  How's she doing?  Please let us know.  Sending good thoughts your way... Christi

I used to send the home the same day to avoid the anxieties but you do whatever hyour vet is comfortable with

    She's back home now!  [:)]

I'm surprised at how well she has recovered.  She's acting like the spay never happened -- to an extent.  For example, she isn't super playful, but she still wants to toss her toys around the house.  Her energy level hasn't changed too much, really.

    Should I be concerned?

My lab was the same way.  You want to keep her quiet for a few days so she doesn't tear the sutures or hurt herself.  I had to keep my 2 dogs separated so they wouldn't rough house too much.  Glad she's home and feeling spunky though.

Two of the dogs I grew up with were totally fine after being spayed; they acted like it didn't even happen.   The other was in agony and tore her stitches out.   I think you should consider yourself lucky :)

My youngest, Riley, was just spayed last Thursday.  So, we're almost at a week of recovery.  And, she was the same...the hardest part was keeping her quiet around our other dog, Reese, when she got home!!
