Cost of Spaying

WOW why so expensive??? We just had my cat neutered and payed $15.
They will neuter dogs under 30 pounds for $20 and spay under 30 pounds for $30! They are an awesome vet and ALWAYS have costomers!

Our vet charges $60 for dogs up to 60 lbs. $65 for any dogs over 60 lbs. Includes a mandatory overnight stay, with attention from a kennelkeeper, in addition to the vet. Our friend with the Great Pyr. is looking to get her dog spayed but her regular vet wants $300+. I think our vet has low costs because he owns his property and also sees horses and cows. A wide range of patients and clients to cover his costs. Plus, he is used to dealing with working people that just aren't made out of money.

At my vet it's about $90 without pre-op bloodwork.  I always pass on that because I usually have that done for any new dog on the first vist, which is either for a rescue and would have happened just a few days before, or my own dog and happens every year at the annual checkup.  With bloodwork it would be $120.  That's for a Border collie size dog - 30 to 70 pounds.  Below thirty I think it's about $75.

By the way, even $300 is amazing considering even minor sugery for humans starts at four figures.  I had my wisdom teeth out a couple years ago, very minor surgery for which I chose complete anesthesa, and it was $1200.

I got my cat spayed for 45$, including her last booster shot and pain medication - but that was a low-cost clinic. They are such wonderful people who work there....the pricing is outrageously low, perfect for a rural environment where a lot of people don't care to get companion animals treatment

I was SO impressed with them...yes the clinic was noisy and hectic and the waiting room rather dirty....but the spay job itself was marvelously done, totally clean, and my kitty recovered within a day or two
