    cone collar after neuter

how likely is it that i would actually need a cone collar to prevent licking out the stitches?

you can accomplish the same tyhing with a towell wrapped around the neck just tight enough to keep her from getting at the incision....easier on the dog than  an e- coollar but if the vet buries the sutures and stiches the pup will proably  not touch them at all...but all dogs are different... but i would wait on the e-collar and if she lickes at the incision then wrap a towell around the neck...but  a good bit of ear scratching often takes their mind off of the incision...

I put Daisy in a "onsie" for infants with one snap open at the top for the tail. She didn't care one bit. of course if you have a distructive dog, they may tear through the clothes to get to the stitches.

I've found that boys are worse about their stitches than girls (working at a vet's offices and probably seeing about 100 spay/neuter surgeries.)

    Hi...
I put my dog in a T shirt worked great...she hated that cone collar..

this is a male dog who is being neutered so the stitches are probably going to be too close to the tail for the onsie/t-shirt suggestions to work.  the towel is a good idea if i can manage to do it right tho )

I put an e-collar on my dog Pepe after he got neutered but only when we were out or at night.  Pretty much anytime i couldn't keep an eye on him and say no when he started licking.  I just worry alot when a friend of mine had a rottie that got an infection from licking so much because the e-collar from the vet wasn't big enough so he could still reach to lick.
