Is he too young?

• Is he too young? addicted2rescue Posted : 5/23/2006 11:37:08 PM Today I was at walmart doing a little shopping. Well, on my way out  a puppy ran in the store, and a bunch of ppl went to try and catch it. And of course, me being me, I went over and called the pup, and he came to me. Some lady came up and told me she had found the pup and her daughter wanted it, but she couldn't have it. And asked me to take it. So I did. As it is my bday it was rather easy to convince my bf to keep him. (Easy gift!). I could tell right away  he is a pit bull. By my estimation probably about 6 or 7 weeks. He is pretty little. Maybe 8 or 9 weeks. But very young. I have never owned a pup that young. Here is my actual issue.... I noticed that he looks like he is fixed. But could it be that his testiclesare just un descended? I think it looks like he has a little scar on his penis (like my other male dog does). But I don't know how old they are when they descend. But you should be able to feel them in the scrotum. Some places neuter puppies as young as seven weeks old. He's one of the few in this area that does, but it is not an uncommon practice at all.   You may want to check and see if the pup is microchipped. • addicted2rescue Posted : 5/25/2006 6:51:10 PM I took him to my vet and found no micro chip. We did however find he was infested with hook worms, pretty badly. They gave him some kind of medicine, and I have to give him more on Saturday morning. Then next month he will need to get it again. He is so skinny too. I feel so bad. Although he seems to be adjusting pretty well.
