Low cost neutering?

    Low cost neutering?

Does anyone know if there's anywhere I can find low cost neutering? Because of a problem my other dog is having I don't have the $200 some my vet wants to neuter my Shepherd mix puppy. He's only 7 months old so I don't have to have it done right at this moment, but I'd still like to get him fixed as soon as possible. I had read somewhere that there's somewhere on the net you can get coupons for spaying and neutering, but I have no idea where I read it, in the paper or a magazine and which ever it was it's long gone by now. I live in Minnesota by the way.

    Thanks for any help.

Call your local HS and even if they don't have a low cost spueter program in place they can likely tell you who does.  I use the HS vet myself and when Theo (gsd older pup) was nuetered, it was a search and destroy mission because both testicles were in his abdominal cavity...one piggybacking his kidney.  Now this was not done through the HS, but with their vet at his home.  It cost me $100 to have it done because it was more complicated.  And Theo is about 65 lbs....and they do count the weight because of the amount of meds they'll need to put them under....

Down here in Florida it's done by county -- BUT usually you can talk to them if you don't live IN that county and they'll do it for slightly more than the $20.

Go to [linkhttp://www.spay.org]www.spay.org[/link]  I think they have links to local programs that do the low cost neuter/spay.

I'll be doing this soon with my girl.

It varies for place to place but if you contact your local SPCA then sometimes they offer coupion to help you out.  Where I live they offer a $50 coupion if you call it in befor you set up an apointment with a vet.  Also contact your local shelter and many times they also have a program like that.

I am doing a low cost spay and neuter next weekend but obviously it is a long way from Minnisota so no help for you...besides we are only doing cats this time...but check  your newspapers occaisionally there may be adds for it.

Well, I went to that page that I was give the link to. I followed the link from there for if you live in other states and did what it told me to do, put in my name and address and what kind of animal and what size. I haven't gotten anything in my email yet, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

My cat has to go to the vet this month so if I don't hear from anyone by the time she has to go in I'll talk to the vet we see. See if they'll let me pay twice instead of paying it all at once because vets want as many animals as possible fixed, so maybe they'll help me out. We'll see.

My vet gave me an estimate of $400-450 to neuter [:@]

    I'll be looking around.

Thanks for the website Xerxes [:D]

Friends of Animals provides low cost neuter certificates.  [linkhttp://www.foa.org]www.friendsofanimals.org[/link]
Also, check with the nearest SPCA.  Many of them sponsor programs, too.

Well, I never got anything in email, but I did get something in the mail. A certificate with the nearest vet that participates in the program of, I believe, Spay USA. I haven't called the vet yet, but will be soon as I was very busy at work this last week.

Also, we don't have an SPCA in my city or surrounding cities. I don't even think there's one in my state. So the website was my best bet.
