    What is TPLO?

I am assuming here by TPLO you mean
    Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy.

I have heard of some people trying hydrotherapy and acupuncuture, herbals remedies, nutritional supplements and homeopathics, TENS and NMES units. However I have not heard any feed back as to if this worked and the one case I do know about ended up in the long run getting the TPLO done.

I have not really heard of any other ways to cure this there and I doubt there are any but there are measures that can be taken to try and add in the matter including glucosamine and chondroitin supplements which help with bones and joints.

Has your veterinarien not given you other alternatives to the surgery?

As for the cost yet again your veterinarian can probably help you with that a little more and I am assuming you are from the states so I would estimate from experience you are probably looking at $2000.00 - $3500.00.

    Very expensive I know !!!

There is the traditional surgery rather than a TPLO which costs less.  Depending on the breed of the dog and age of the dog this could be a good option for you.  If your dog is active or any sort of a performance dog then the TPLO is the way to go.

A TPLO for one of my dogs 4.5 years ago was about $2000-$2500 and I think that the cost has gone up to over $3000 now.  It's an expensive surgery but with the proper rehab afterward it's a much better surgery than the traditional repair.
