    Please help noodle.

A few days ago I noticed that one of noodles front/left nail was cracked in half and split.  It wiggled like a loose tooth.

Today after letting her out, she came back limping.  I checked the nail, and sure enough, the cracked half broke off.  She wasn't bleeding so I wiped it down with water, and put antibacterial ointment on it.

This is a very tough dog and she wont put any pressure on that paw.  It kills me to see her like this.  She didn't even greet me at the door when I came home from work.

Is there anything I could do?  She isn't bleeding, so is this something that will heal itself in time, assuming it doesn't smell or look like infection?

Just some background Noodle is 2 years old, 41 lbs, very healthy, very active, and eats the best foods according the the whole dog journal.

There's not much you can do for a broken nail, You are doing good keeping it clean and putting cream on it.
By the way, your baby is gorgeous and has alot of patience for you to be able to bury her like that. HEHEHE

Ouch about the nail. No suggestions there, but I love the first pic.

I'd take her to the vet.  I had the same thing happen to our lab, but never noticed it had happened.  She was a very stoic dog and never limped or anything.  Unfortunately infection set in and she had to be operated on.  Eventually (years later) she lost that toe.  So that was 2 operations all because of a broken nail.

I would take her to the vet to limit the chance of infection too. My golden / chow mix named Clyde, well his nick name is Noodle. We sing him a song [:D]
Noodle, Noodle, Noodle cuter than a poodle.
Anyways your pics are awesome Clyde is fury but has those ears and smiles too
Good luck hope his nail is ok.....

ITA on the vet visit.  He can cut it back, and wrap it so it doesn't get infected. I hope Noodle feels better soon.

Took her to the vet and it turns out it was lyme disease.  Her nail was cracked, but that wasn't the reason why she was yelping when I grabbed her paw.

She is fine now and on the anti-biotics.

    Thanks for the concern.
