Billy - a bit of a positive update I hope

Callie - I loved hearing about Billy's reunion with his two- and four-legged friends in Gainesville (your words/description were almost as fun to read as Billy's! [;)]).  Just as it is in the healing process for people, animals benefit from the encouragement and positive feelings and reactions of the people around them during an illness and recovery.  Your vigilance in observing him and your dedicated care are hugely important, but all those happy vibes around him have great value!

Billy, I'm glad your latest Gainesville trip had plenty of good feedback (and some happy faces).  And while the new student may need some more practice on using those treats with you, let's not give him that practice time very soon, okay?  Stay cool sweetheart -- here's a big hug and kiss for you!  XOXO

Billy continues to do pretty darned well.  Last night we had an acupuncture appointment and when I told her they'd added the ferrous sulphate as an additional supplement she said 'That will make him 'hot' so feed him cooling stuff -- you know like ... well melon and stuff!"

I almost choked with laughter -- Mr. I-LOVE-WATTYMELON is gonna love this one!! Yep - I bought him one last night LOL.  Ya think I'll had trouble getting him to eat that??? *grin*

Now for a "rest of the family" update -- a storm happened while Billy and I were up there -- I had posted all of this SOMEWHERE on the board but I can't find it -- it all timed out as I did it and …

But mostly -- this storm somehow causes a power burst that blew out part of my circuit breaker so I have no power to my laundry building (i.e., NO WASHER/DRYER waaaaaa) and no power in my bathroom (good thing I'm not a vain woman *sigh*).  But more complications I really did NOT need.

In addition to all else, I developed a whopper of an eye infection Monday -- and I fear I picked up something while I was up there in Gainesville.  (I'm prone to conjunctivitis but this one is BAD and I can barely see) - so I#%92m having to limit my time online just so I can stay at work.  David and I are both still working overtime and extra time, etc.. so I've GOT to be able to see to work.

That means I'm spending almost zero time online -- literally almost none.  If you want to contact me -- PLEASE don't use the Yahoo address in my ID.  Simply email me at Callie at critters dot com (no spaces and use the puncturation as normal -- Critturs is our own website and my mail bounces off there faster and easierl).

Thanks folks -- I feel so bad about not being able to get in here but this is life right now.  Will check in as I can.  Callie

We'll miss your wisdom but we'll all email real loud if it's urgent.  Hope your eye feels better.  I can only imagine what it's like working all day with a bad eye...oh that's right, I have 2 bad eyes, but as soon as I get used to these contacts, I'll be fine [;)].

Hope you ALL enjoy some watermelon.  Better eat it naked since it's messy and you can't do wash [sm=lol.gif].

Well the next 'update' -- I got a call from Dr. Goldkamp today and Billy's cyclosporin test came back (the concentration of that big guns steroid in his body).  IT'S WAY HIGH.  So they've backed him way off on the cyclosporin for a while.  That means we watch him carefully but it also means a $$ break for us.  The cyclosporin's running about $500 or more a month and this will cut that way down for a couple of weeks and then regulating him (which it sounds lke he won't need this dose anyway).

But the kinda 'cool' news is that she's doing a case study on Billy hoping to get it published.  *I* am hoping that what they learn from Billy will help other dogs -- particularly other buffy coat cockers.  RAH!!

    Billy, how ya doin' boy?

Mom's just been working her tookus off -- Billy's doing really pretty well!  His hematacrit is 'holding' mid-thirties (34 this morning) -- and they're wanting it higher, but his cyclosporin level is maybe interfering with that.  Dunno.

I worked all day today (Saturday) and went to the laundromat, tookBilly to get his hematacrit pulled and took him to the groomer before I went to worik.  Tomorrow I rest!!  And hopefully cuddle my dogs!!! Heaven!!!

Billy, I'm so glad to hear your blood levels are holding steady.  You must be feeling super now that you've gone to the "salon!"  A good shampoo and blow-dry always makes one feel better.

Sending you good wishes for a truly blissful Sunday at home with your Mom (and hopefully Dad, too!), and your fur-siblings.  You all deserve some calmness and cuddling for a while!  I hope all of you feel restored and refreshed as the new week starts.  I think of you each day and am always pleased when I read about your continued progress.  You're a special boy, Billy --- but you knew that, right?!

Oh boy,,,,you sure do have your life filled, don't you Callie!
Today is your day of rest...good luck resting....lol!  Somedays my "days of rest" turn into more working days.
I had to laugh about Billy and the watermelon,,,Bubblegum and I eat watermelon every night  when we need a snack before bedtime.  Bubby loves all fruit,,, I'll bet Billy does also.
Hope things continue to look good with Billy but hope the "other" things get better,,,,we sure don't need things going wrong in our house to make our everyday living harder...and then the eye problem on top of it.     Yikes!

At least my husband got the DSL problem ironed out yesterday while I was working ... that makes things MUCH easier.  And I have a feeling he resolved another problem inadvertently (he's got our computers networked and it's been taking like 10 minutes for each post to "come up" much less to get the window to 'reply') and that seems to be fixed.  HALLELEUJAH!!!

Given that I got up and went to the laundromat before "Oh-Dark-Thirty" yesterday I'm taking today 'off' for the most part.  RAH!!!

I am glad to see things are looking up!

But the kinda 'cool' news is that she's doing a case study on Billy hoping to get it published. *I* am hoping that what they learn from Billy will help other dogs -- particularly other buffy coat cockers. RAH!!

What they are learning from Billy should help other dogs. I'm glad to hear that his hematacrit is holding; that's great news.

jessies_mom that's MY thinking ... whatever we go thru, a) we are helping train NEW vets, and b) this is the place to digest data -- and since this lady has been SO GOOD to my dog, and has tried to give him the most awesome care ... then I hope she's wildly successful!!!  For some reason that's always a big huge deal to me -- I don't mind so much going thru hard times if I know someone somewhere is gonna benefit!  Thanks!
