    Dark Burise-like skin around genetals??

    My 3 yr old GS has , in the past 2 weeks, had the skin around his genetils turn bruise purple/black.
    He likes to get dirty so I figured it would come off in a bath, but it didn't. Doesn't bother him, but it seems to be getting bigger.
    Also, one nipple has turned the purple/grey & it looks like his veins thru the nipple are a brighter more prominant purple. He is nutered, long ago, and has no doggie sex, but it nearly looks like blue balls.

    Any ideas??

    If it gets bigger, I think I will have to re-check him @ the vets but the poor guy sees the vet 2-3x a month now for allergies to grass (which we have under control now thankfully)

    His new med. regime might be the cause. (4 weeks on this) He is on nettles leaf 2cc/d AM & pm, and chineese herbs, and it seems to be a miracle remedy, but now this blackening of the skin is present.

    Any ideas??

    Nettle shouldn't do that, and neither should the Chinese herbs -- CALL THE VET.  Such discoloration is NOT good and can indicate blood/internal problems.  I too use a vet who uses Chinese medicine and nothing should cause that.  But often once you try to deal with one problem it can allow another to arise and this is not something you should simply ignore.
     
    Just CALL the vet -- and describe it as you have here -- but at least make them aware of it.  Chinese medicine is toooooooo in synch with the bloodstream and that sounds almost like a sluggish spot and should be brought to their attention a.s.a.p. to be honest.  It could be toxins trying to rise to the surface or any one of many things -- but the vet needs to be aware of it so they can decide how much of a hurry it is to be seen.

    What about this black discloroation on the testicles of a 6 month old puppy?  I noticed this while grooming my Silky Terrier Banditt, last time they were a nice pink shade.  It looks like charred skin!! 
     
    Do I need to take him to the vet?
