help! puppy returns from kennel sick

My 1 year old 13lb. maltipoo returned from a 5 day stay at the kennel on tuesday. The kennel is part of the vet where we take him and my cousin is a groomer there so I trusted him to be safe there. Tuesday and Wednesday he was his regular self. Thursday morning through today he has been having the runs and vomitting. I've been told some stomach issues can be caused by anxiety of being boarded, but he's got me really worried. I brought enough food for him to stay 2 weeks even though he was only there 5 days but the vet said he ran out of food. They told me I didn't have to bring food for him in the first place so I'm wondering if they even gave him the food I brought and now he's having stomach issues as a result of the switching of foods? Advice?

I would think it odd that a change in the food while he was at the kennel took 2-3 days to show ill effects. It could be, but I'd be more concerned about him having picked up a virus while he was there. I'd give the vet a call and see what they think. Until then, I'd fast him, maybe even thru tomorrow and then start with small amounts of boiled chicken and rice (cook the rice until it's mushy).

Yep, I'd be calling the vet in one hurry! First, if its a virus they should know about it and treat him AND the other pets. Second,,,they should know that your dog got sick after being there. And third, I would for sure make an issue about the food...no way could they have run out,,,someone screwed something up and they should know that you know.
