Billy, Billy, Billy...if hearing your name is what makes you feel better, I will be saying it forever....Billy, Billy, Billy...
    • Gold Top Dog
Good luck, Billy.  We are all praying for you... you have too many of us here hoping good things for anything to go wrong.  You are in an amazing place with really neat doctors who are gonna get you better!

Poor little Billy. Those bone marrow draws are not fun, I've heard.

Lots of gentle kisses, and prayers, for you Billy.

    Billy,
Zoe and I want you to keep working hard to be ok and keep up that positive attitude.  Your mommy and tons of other people love you and want you to be healthy as soon as possible!

Now Eric has OTHER students reading Billy's emails to him -- so I've just cut and pasted them all in a document I'll retrieve from work and fax to him tomorrow!!

The bone marrow draw went well -- they have *some* results (mostly just enough to be confusing again).  They know his body isn't making "enough" red blood cells so the attempt is to see if the body just is doing this ultra slow (and why maybe or is it just Billy's body?) OR is the IMHA "killing" the red blood cells in the bone marrow, OR  is the tick disease active even in the bone marrow?

We want it to be the first -- that his body just plain is SLOW.  If the IMHA or Tick disease is really active (either) in the marrow, that's bad.  The tick disease would be surmountable but it would be SUPER tough.

But the first answer is that it was at least not immediately obvious what was going on -- they were first off really afraid that the red blood cell production in the bone marrow would be HIGH and then it would be 'for sure' (I think) that it was the IMHA 'killing' it -- but that's not the case.

Once again what ought to "show" doesn't but what looks good isn't really and what looks bad isn't really.

I'm just glad I have vets who are continuing to try.  It looks like he's gonna be there all the way thru the week and maybe thru the weekend.

So test results still outstanding and a  CBC (a complete blood count) on Thursday.  And HOPEFULLY that tick test (I've lost the acronym for that -- it's an indept profile) will be back. They have to keep him long enough to be able to change his treatment -- I'm FINE with that -- he can't go up and down like this.  Sooner or later the body won't deal with it.

I'm gonna put up another picture -- it's Billy "fluffy" (which I prefer to having to shave him down - he is SOOOOO soft!).

Billy you are beautiful!  Billy your eyes are gorgeous! Billy your ears are so lovely!  Billy your coat...I want one too!  Billy, know that we are rooting for you, fella!
    • Gold Top Dog
Awwww, Billy you are adorable!  I never saw a pic of him before and he is even cuter than I imagined!   Billy keep smiling!!!!
    • Gold Top Dog
Oh Callie, he is so beautiful, so kind and so darn young looking.  I just pray the results come back with something that you and they can get your arms around and fight back.  He's in my heart and I'm thinking of you all - all the time.  Tell him Sassy and Buffy think he's just the most handsome guy they've seen and said to tell him he doesn't look a bit sick or nothin and they know he likes the ricotta cheese, but he can probably get more of that if he gets better and comes home....so do that...okay?  They both send big sloppy lab kisses and sniffs [:)]

I had never seen a picture of him.  He is beautiful.  Come on Billy keep up the fight.  You can win.

Ok some test results are in that 'say' something.  Apparently there are plenty of the "baby red blood cells" in the bone marrow but they reach one 'stage' of life and disappear which does mean it is very very likely the IMHA, and it's taking the red blood cells in the bone marrow.

They're adjusting his meds (which may mean he loses one that protects the tummy) but at the same time he's still eating like a horse.  They get him stable and then we decrease the meds -- and in particular they'll decrease the pred first because it's the one with the worst side effects long term.

Not the news I wanted but at least they can formulate a plan of treatment now and we'll go from here - step by step!

Thanks bunches again - you guys help SO much.

Billy has the sweetest face and beautiful big brown eyes. I wish the test results had been more encouraging but he is getting excellent care; that along with the fact that he has a good appetite and so many people praying for him means he has a fighting chance.
Hang in there Billy; mommy and daddy love you sooo much ; keep fighting.

Billy, you have the sweetest face - I like the unshaved look.  Rump scratches for you and {{{hugs}} for mom and dad.
