    Innova Evo & Allergies ?

Hi,  I switched my Lab over to Innova Evo a week ago and am wondering if it's possible to get allergies from it. ?  Innova Evo has NO Grains in it and is an almost all meat diet so is it possible a dog can even get allergies from this? I also gave him some milkbones a few days ago and am thinking its from those, because the first ingredient was wheat.  I think I will wait a full week giving him ONLY Innova Evo food and Innova Evo treats and see how he does. They both have NO grains in them so I dont even think it's possible to get allergies from it.  Is it possible?  Does anyone have any experiences from Innova Evo?  Thanks so much for the help.

Of course he could be allergic to it!

Dogs, and humans, and chickens and cats and fluffy bunnies, can be allergic to anything, and can develop allergies at any time. If I gave my dog EVO, she'd have *horrible* reactions, because she's very allergic to chicken.

Dogs can have allergies to just about anything. EVO has many different protein sources. Even thought there are no grains, your dog could be reacting to one of the proteins in the food. If your dog is showing allergic signs, it could be from the food as well as his environment. If his world was fine until you switched to the EVO than I'd try a food with a single protein source. Best to make it a proten your dog has not had in the past. California Naturals Herring and Sweet Potato has worked for my lab, and yes I did feed him EVO and Solid Gold Barking at (over?) the Moon previously.

Just a suggestion, but if you even suspect it's allergies to the Milk Bones, eliminate those and see how things go.  If it resolves, you have your answer.  If not, you'll need to consider the Evo and/or other environmental allergens.  The Milk Bones are a good place to start though.

Hi, well after 2 days and only giving Parker Innova EVO and nothing else he has stopped itching 99.9% of the time. I basically threw out the remaining treats he had since most of them had wheat in them listed as the first ingredient. I hope this new food does the trick.  I also got him some Innova EVO treats that are baked and have NO grains in them just like the food. I got him down to 2 cups a day plus a few treats and I will see if this helps him loose weight.  So far So good!!

Also consider the potato.  I've read that potatoes are no longer a novel carb source and many dogs are allergic to them.  EVO has potato instead of grains.  My male Collie doesn't tolerate potatoes in food - he will have loose stools., so EVO didn't work well at all for him.

That's great news David![:D] I replied in your other topic thread but I just realized you had this one. To have found the culprit (the wheat/biscuits) so fast is wonderful. I'm so glad that you dog is feeling better.

Hi guys,  Parkers doing great and the itching has all stopped.  I think the wheat was the problem and I'm glad we were able to find it so fast. Thanks for your help and input in this matter and helping us find it .
