diahhrea - same time as last year

Last year at this time, my chi, Petey, got the diahhrea.  The vet visit didn't turn up any parasites or anything else wrong with him.  It cleared up with a home-cooked diet and some meds.

Now, both chis - Winnie and Petey - have it.  Exact same time as last year.  Again, the vet did a fecal test, but no parasites.  She gave me flagyl and albon to give them, and suggested I check my yard closely for what they might be eating.

Thing is, we haven't planted any new stuff.  Nothing new or unusual is blooming, so I can't figure out what to look for.  We watch them while they're out there and they aren't chewing on or eating anything outside of normal, so I don't know what to look for.  Suggestions?

How about,,,,,,have they recently been put on heartworm pills?  Any other medicines?

Maybe your neihbors sprayed something.  I had a co-worker who's dog had bad diareah when his neihbor poured an ant boundry powder around his yard.  It was close enough around the fence line that the dog got it on his feet, licked it off and got sick.
Then again, it could just be adjusting to the hot weather.

If you take them somewhere with a small lake or pond they can get sick from drinking water contaminated with duck or goose droppings. Drinking from a birdbath can also make them sick. Is there standing water they have access to such as a kiddie pool?

Along the side of our house is an alley, and our landlord's house next door is gated in and I know he hasn't sprayed anything, and we haven't sprayed anything.  And, we haven't taken them anyplace except out back.  When we do that, we take their water bowl out and bring it back in.

I noticed yesterday that they were digging at and eating mossy pieces of dirt.  And I don't think I've seen them do that much before...they were really going at it yesterday.  Could the moss be doing it?  I wonder if the taste of it changes in the summer?  If so, how do I stop them?

I don't want them to have the runs all summer - last year Petey had them for a good 3-4 weeks before they cleared up.

Who knows if it could be that,,,but seems that it could be. I would keep it OFF LIMITS and find out.  Good luck!

Maybe it's just the warmer weather.  Pumpkin (like canned pumpkin) will help with diahrea.
