Is is a scab, tick, or his microchip?

About a month ago, I found a little bump on Jimmy's back right between his shoulder blades, and I thought it was a tick and I removed it, but then when I did that, I realized I didn't think it was a tick, and it just left a little open wound on his back.  So, we left it alone, and now its totally back, and I don't want to mess with it because I don't know what it is.  I don't understand how it could be a scab because its right between his shoulder blades, and he's an only dog, and we don't play rough with him, so how could he have a sore there?  And, I'm also wondering if it could be from his microchip?  We got him fixed and microchipped about 5 months ago, and don't they put the microchip right between their shoulders?

    scratching himself too much?

No, there's no way he could reach that area.  Its right between his shoulders.

I wonder if it is the chip. Maybe he is having a reaction to it and his body is trying to push it to the surface.
My one dog had a different issue with his chip, it migrated and bothered him so much (he scratched at it constantly) that we had to have it sugically removed and sutured closed. He is now 'sans chip', not a good feeling but it just wasn't working with it.

Could it be some type of mole?

Sophia did you report to the microchip company about what happen to you dog? microchips aren't supposed to do that. Because there is no chemicals or anythings else on or inside the chip.

He could have already been bitten by a tick or some other insect.  I'd love to be able to say a dog was an only dog so they shouldn't get an owie, but reality says they get them.  They can get papules, pustules and other things from a variety of things -- have you tried putting anything ON this?  Like tea tree oil (since it's where he can't lick it) or something?  They can even slide under things and get nicked by anything from a cupboard to a tree branch.

BUT all that being said -- if the bump itself feels funny and just isn't going away, then have a vet look at it.  Particularly if it's growing.

it is very possibly that it could be the microchip...I know there is no connetion but i had both knees replaced and there is a pereptual scab over on e of the scars and I checked with the surgeon and this is where there is a buried suture that was supposed to have dissolved months ago but it is still there and it is better to just ignore it rather than dig into remove it...this might be the same with your scab...I suspect it might be a gooed idea to get it checked and a low dose xray could determine if it is that or even a probe but these are not do-it-yousef-at-home thiings...
