    Coal/HW treatment Update

    Hi All-
Well dropped Coal off this morning for his last HW treatment shots.   He has been doing so well really acting like his old self for the past 2 weeks.  You couldnt tell he was sick really.    I go to pick him up on Wednesday/Thursday and he will have to be kept quiet  for 4 more weeks.

I have been giving them a new Nutro lamb and rice wet and dry food and they are loving it.  they only get about 2 tablespoons of the wet at a time just enough to wet the dry and they both seem to love it.    I can already see a difference in their coats and they arent chewing on their feet.    vet thought they might be allergic to the corn in their other food?

Not sure how Coal is going to like going back outside while I am work after all this is over...But I am thinking he would love it cause when we all go outside he has to be on a leash and Casey gets to run around.

Well just thought i would check in.  Hope Hogan is doing great!!!

hey does anyone know if posion ivy affects dogs?  I noticed my neighbors dog yesterday going thru the woods by my house and he just walked right thru it.   never really thought about it till then.

Glad to hear your big guy is doing so well.  I have wondered about Hogan also as I have not see any posts on him.  The rescued golden on one of my golden boards is also doing well.

    thanks guys   [:)]

Sandra glad the golden is doing good.  I really thought i was going to be a lot harder to keep him quiet but hes been really good about laying down.  Unless of course its food time or time to go potty then he knows the exact spot to sit in my way and stare at me...until i get up off my butt and take him out....lol...  and he doesnt care if its saturday morning when Casey and I want to sleep in.... its 5:30 and its time to eat!!!!

Will see how it goes tonight with just Casey home.  He totally freaked out last month when Coal was gone for 2 days...and we are supposed to get a storm tonight too.,... he is really scared of thunder.  May have to give him a pill that the vet gave me to help him sleep.  He is such a sweet boy... loves to give kisses.... and would lay on you all night if you would let him... keep in mind he is a 75lb setter and thinks hes a lap dog... Coal too actually.  he got up on the couch with me this weekend and climed in my lab and went to sleep... my leg did too actually... lol...  sorry for rambling...
    have a great night!

Woould love to see a picture of your setter.  I grew up with English Setters.  I am going to post one of of Mac and his pups, Rascal and Duchess.  Mac was a TOP quail dog, but Daddy never bred him until he was 10 years old--realized that Mac "should live" on in other dogs.  The pups were mine.  This was taken way back in '57.  Oh, Rascal and Duchess werre also top quail dogs.

Here is Casey with his foam volleyball.  I dont know about your setters back then but were they bird and ball crazy???  He loves to chase the birds, squirles or anything that comes in the yard.   If a bird lands on a tree or fence post by the house he stares at it at first then takes off running to see if he can catch it...  pretty funny...

and this volleyball he brings it to me like in the pick and drops at my feet and waits on me to kick it again and he goes and gets it...

Casey is an english setter/springer spaniel mix.  really tall like his dad which was full blooded english setter and his mom was a full blooded spaniel.

We used our setters for quail hunting--the BEST MEAT in the world.  Nothing and I mean nothing can beat fried quail with some mashed potatoes (home grown), cream gravey, corn on the cob Home grown), pickled beets Home grown)  fried green tomaotes (home grown),and a tossed salad with home grown tomatoes, green onions, cucumbers, raddishes.   For some reason we never grew lettuce.
