    Sick puppies

My dog had her second litter of puppies about 12 weeks ago.  All 11 puppies from her first litter died.  Now 2 of our puppies are sick. We aren't sure whats wrong though. They've stopped eating and keep throwing up. When they use the bathroom only blood comes out. Can someone please help?

Get those pups to the vet NOW.  In the morning will probably be too late.  This sounds like parvo.

To the question, "Can anyone help?" the answer is a resounding YES.  Your veterinarian can help and you should be there right now, immediately, do not wait another moment.  At the same time, it would be good to arrange to have the momma spayed.

Please take them to the vet -- you've likely got parvo or something -- what did the first litter die of??  Things like parvo and distemper stay in the ground for at least two years.

Are you having any vet help with this?? Puppies need vet care - particularly when you've had an ENTIRE litter die.

Please get your bitch spayed -- it's incredibly hard on them to lose pups like that and the risk of pyometra is so great.

Please take the puppies to the vet right away. Give them a chance to live.  The mom needs to be checked also...Bubblegum had Mastitis after having her 18 puppies...and they had to be taken away from her or she would give the infection to them...perhaps your mama has an infection and is giving it to the pups.  Once they get mastitis the chances of them getting it again next pregnancy is great..so she had to be spayed.  They all need to be checked....please!

Thanks for the advice. But I'm not sure the vet thing would be a good idea. Last time I took a pet to the vet it "got away". That's what we were told anyway. And my family is not in a financial state where we can take all 8 puppies to the vet at one time.

And last time we weren't sure what the problem was. We have a lot of woods where we live and 4 of them ran off and died in the woods.  The rest just stopped moving altogethor then died. But they had the same symptoms. The momma dog is healthy though.

I don't mean to be mean, but the puppies are living, breathing creatures of God. They depend on humans to take care of them. They are your responsibility!  If they are sick, its only right that you take them to get checked. They need desperate help and you are the only one that can help them.  I know we don't like to spend money at the vet and sometimes we don't have the extra means to, but it just is a plain and simple must on your part. It is life or death and you are the only one that can help. Please do what is right!

So you have 8 12 week old pups?  You aren't looking for homes for any of them?

If you can't take them to the vet, it's very likely they will die.

How sad! [&o] maybe you have like a nearby shelter you could take them ALL to. Sometimes they have vets on staff and they would be able to better care for your momma and babies.

I know it is hard when you don't have the money to take animals to the vet, but there is really nothing else you can do.  We had a litter about 3 years ago that was a complete accident and all three of the pups started throwing up and having diarrhea (parvo).   We didn't have the money to take them but thankfully the vet worked out a payment plan for us.  It was near my birthday and my mom said if we do this, since my pup was the sickest (runt of the  litter) it would be my birthday present for that year.  I didn't care as long as all the pups were safe and healthy.  They all made it through after feeding them chicken and Gatorade for 2 weeks. I really hope you take them all to the vet.

Sorry to sound cruel but you have no business letting your bitch get pregnant if you aren't willing to provide the medical care the puppies need to be healthy. Glenda is right; if you don't take them to the vet they will MOST LIKELY DIE and it will be your fault for not getting them the care they need.

    I agree with Jessie'smom
Isn't it considered animal cruelty not giving your dogs adequate medical treatment? These pups are in your home, and in your care, the least you could do is give them medical care.
You don't have to take all the pups to the vet per say. You could take one, get a stool sample (which costs maybe $30 at the most) and if there's any parasites you get medicine for all the puppies. Many vets will give you a payment plan, or you can apply for a type of pet insurance that you pay for in payments.

If you dont' have the finance to do this, you could drop them off at a no-kill animal shelter and say that you found them as strays. They may get the adequate vet care they need.
If you dont' do anything and they die and if it turns out to be a serious contagious disease (like Parvo) then you're putting every single dog that comes to your house at risk.

How are the pups?   If you can't take them to the vet, please take them to the shelter they will get vet care there.   Not getting the pups proper medical care is definitely cruelty to animals.  Please have your female spayed immediately.

Please don't lie to the shelter.  Tell the shelter that you can't take care of them.  These people are in the business because the CARE about animals. Yeah, they might charge you a small surrender fee, but that's going to take care of the pups health.

This is just a sad shame.  8 little lives without a chance of survival without immediate medical care.

Well if you haven't wormed these pups it's a good chance that they have worms and if you haven't vaccinated tham they very well could have parvo.

Pet ownership brings responsibility. If you don'y have the funds to properly care for the animals you have then maybe you should consider the alternatives. Many areas have low/no cost spay/neuter programs. If you can't afford the vet care if your dog has pups then she should be spayed.

These pups are sick and need care by what you have described and you need to take them to the vet. Explain the financial situation to your vet and maybe they can work with you regarding payment and options.
