Poor Emma

    Poor Emma

The kid can't catch a break. We spent this morning at the vet's office doing a barium series, thinking she was going to have emergency surgery. $200 later, she has an upset stomach and three prescriptions. She hasn't held down a meal since Sunday. She *did* hold down her dinner tonight, but went outside, ate a bunch of grass, and barfed that up.

She was SOOOOOO good all day. I'm really proud of what a nice girl she's becoming. She needed a big ol cookie, LOL. She did not growl, lift a lip, or snap ONCE, and she was made very uncomfortable on several occasions. She's also itching horribly, b/c she can't keep down a benedryll, either, and fleas kept hopping on her in the vet's office. She's sleeping now, and hopefully, she'll do better tomorrow. If she's not holding things down by Friday, she gets to go back in. Oh, fun.

Poor little Emma! I wish her a speedy recovery.

Blue says he will be more then happy to share his bed with Emma as long as she don't touch his Teddy. They can snuggly with one another while being both sick.

I am sorry to hear that poor Emma is under the weather.  It is not a bit fun if one of our fur kids isn't quite right or is hurting.  Hopefully she will be fine in a few days.

PS OT  Hubby had to go in today and 3 deep injections in two herniated discs in his lower back.  One was causing pressure on a nerve---not sure of the spelling, but it sounds siatic--and made his "butt" hurt and all the way down his leg to his ankle.    I bet your little girl was a btter patient than he was!  LOL

Jennie, I cannot believe the vet didn't tell you to give her something like pepcid ac to help with her tummy and nausia troubles.

Poor little girlie. Give her some extra kisses and snuggies from me.

Sending quick healing vibes her way.

They've ruled out kidney/liver?  I'm surprised they didn't give her anything for nausea, too.

Poor Emma is right!!!    I hope she is feeling better already!   Just keep trying to let her eat little bits of what she can eat. Hopefully she keeps it down.   I know some dogs can eat grass and do, Ollie throws it up everytime,,,makes green stains on the carpet and then I get yelled at for letting him eat it!!
Well the fact that she DID hold down yesterdays meal might mean she is on the mend!!  But the allergy season is horrible now,,,so hopefully she gets thru this and stops itching!

I'm so sorry that she's having problems again; just recently I remember you said she was doing good and had gained a little weight; guess she's lost that and more.[:o]  I will say a prayer for her; you probably know more than anyone on the forum about things that she can tolerate that may soothe her stomach; she couldn't be in better hands. I hope she starts keeping her food down.

She is on two prescription medicines, and he said to get her some Pepcid or Tagament, or give her a tums. I haven't been to the store yet, and had Tums here, so she got that, with her Rx drugs.

They didn't do any blood tests. I guess if she's not better by tomorrow, that's what we'll do. Last blood test, her skin was YELLOW, but her numbers were perfect. Go figure, right?

I don't *think* she has any kidney trouble.... I have had a kidney failure dog before, so I have a good idea of what that looks/smells like. She does smell sick, but she doesn't smell like kidney failure (I'm smell oriented, LOL, I've taken her for bloodwork when she smelled funny, before... caught something early on).

She seems to have held down her breakfast, so that's good news!

We had a cat who began having problems with his kidneys when he was 17; and I remember that being incontinent was one of the symptoms; he wore "Piddle Pants". He also had less appetite. So if Emma was having kidney problems her symptoms would probably be similar. It's good that her breakfast stayed down; I hope that she keeps improving.

Poor Emma!!!  Give her some kisses from me and Bailey - sending good thoughts to you guys!

Poor Emma . . . I hope she's feeling better and that it's just a short-termed problem, not something serious.  Give her some extra hugs tonight (I'm sure you are already!)  It's awful to see them feeling sick, and you can't help them understand why.

P.S. to Sandra -- I can imagine the discomfort your husband's experiencing.  It sounds like he's having trouble with the sciatic nerve.  I know how that can hurt first-hand, and I've got a friend who could hardly walk for months due to sciatica.  That nerve pain just shoots right down the leg.  Poor guy!
