• Ingrown Eyelid Hair - Has anyone had this happen to their dog? James Lee Posted : 5/3/2006 10:52:21 AM I have a Shih-Tzu, 4.5 years old. At the vet today, the doc said that his eyelid hair had gotten under his eye and was growing across the eye rather than downward. She referred us to an opthamologist and said he'd probably need surgery to remove the hair follicles. This is happening in both eyes and is causing him irritation and excessive tearing. Exactly where it is happening (coming from the top or bottom and going in which direction)? Use direction from the dogs point of view (if you are looking at him/her his right eye is actually his/her left). And if it is all possible for you to find out...what membrane it is affecting (sclera, iris, nictating membrane, pupil, lateral canthus) it will probably be one of those words. Where is the excessive tearing? If you can be as detailed as possible I may be able to help you out before you spend loads of cash.
