    k9 advantix vs biospot?

If K9 advantix doesn't repel fleas how effective is it? My vet recommended it because we go camping, and want to take Peyton with us and it repels ticks and mosquitoes. The only product that repels all is biospot. Any advice?

the K9 advantix works fine on my dog for fleas and ticks.  I just cannot have my rabbit anywhere near him.  The flea stuff bothers her.

I've heard some bad things about bio-spot, but I also know a lot of people who have used it for a long time with no problems.  Perhaps some board members who know a lot more than I do about this (and have some info and statistics to share) will chime in.

I don't have any statistics, but I think the incidence of bad reactions to Bio-Spot is relatively low. Like with ANY new product, you want to keep your pet in sight for several hours the first time you apply it. Dogs are all different and I've heard of bad reactions to almost every product out there. You are putting a chemical on your pet after all, it's never going to be 100% safe.

I have no personal experience with either one of these products. I use Frontline Plus. My mom uses Bio-Spot and is very happy with it. Neither Bio-Spot or Advantix is safe if you have cats in the household.

The other thread here *Adverse Reactions to Topicals* certainly sounds like dogs can, and do, have bad reactions to just about anything that's out there for flea control.  It probably just comes down to whatever works OK for your dog without causing him/her any grief.

Do a net search on BioSpot and you will be appalled that it's even allowed to stay on the market.  It does NOT "repel" anything -- the flea, tick or whatever has to BITE the dog to die.

Now Skin So Soft (Avon bath oil??) THAT does  a darned good job of repelling anything -- I'm really not joking, it does.  Just mix it with alcohol and water and put in a spray bottle.  Oily, yes, but it works
