    Something wrong with his... penis?

So, I went outside to feed my dogs this morning and noticed a large red "thing" protruding from Paco.

I guessed it was normal since he's a male and didn't really know if there was anything wrong because it's the first time I've had a male dog. A friend gave him to me about a month a go.

Well, I feed them and went back inside. I went back outside a few moments ago and it's in the same state. He's starting to look really sad and I'm starting to get worried.

I vaguely remember seeing his thing as a small little sac, and it wasn't red. I also noticed that the fur on his hind legs looks wet.

I took some photos and decided to see if anyone knew what was going on before I take any further action.

Sorry if this is too graphic, but I really need to know what's going on.

Nope, that's not normal.  Vet.  NOW.

From what I remember, they somehow put his penis back in it's sheath. I've never had male dogs before, but this used to happen all the time when i worked at one big box grooming salon and it happens to my room-mate's pet rats a lot. We'd just take them 10 feet away to the Pet Store's vet, and they'd put it back. I have no idea what it cost or what they did though.

You need to take him to the vet, because it gets too dry out in the open air and it could cause an infection.

I hope you have done as Glenda suggested and get this poor guy to the vet right away. Looks like it is stuck there. OUCH

A dog's penis gets stuck in the outie position when the bulbous part extends beyond the prepuce.  When this happens, it is a medical emergency and requires immediate care.  In all likelihood, the vet will simply anesthetize him and put it back in, but delay could cost you your dog...

It's too bad that you didn't ask about this earlier when the regular vet was still open.  But, this is a REAL medical emergency and you don't have a choice.  He needs to be vetted NOW and if that means going to the emergency vet, give them a post dated check if need be.  Honestly, you've already waited way too long.  Poor guy.

Like Glenda, Anne, and everyone else has said.  Please get him to the vet if you havent already.  Paraphimosis, is a very serious condition which can be easily corrected by a vet, however if not treated is VERY dangerous.  Let us know how he is doing!

Okay, I'm coming here every half hour to check how this little guy is doing?????????????? Where did the OP go???
Please let us know how he is.

I hope we will get an update soon. Poor little guy!!!!
Cost needs to be on the backburner.( I think a good vet will put the well-being of the animal first and will work something out as far as the payment goes if necessary).
PLEASE let us all know how he is doing.
