I'm so sorry to hear that things have taken a downward turn for you and Mr. Frosty Paws. I know too well the heartbreak you're feeling, as well as the awful guilt when you think you've done the wrong thing. I still put some blame on myself that we made our boy go through a surgery when he was showing signs of decline. He never quite recovered fully, and we lost him 5 months later.
It's true that we make decisions out of deep love for our furbabies - and for most of us, they aren't 100% educated decisions. We have to trust the guidance we're getting from the vets, and we can never know if we're absolutely doing the right thing since there are risks with every procedure, no matter how minor. However, that doesn't reduce the amount of second-guessing I still do about our dog. It's so hard to love someone so much that you want to do anything possible to help him, yet not be able to talk to each other about what you want, what he's feeling, what he's willing to go through.
Hopefully, you're just seeing some surgery recovery issues due to pain or weakness, and your baby will improve in another day or two. In the meantime, shower him with affection, keep him snuggly warm, and let him hear your voice as much as possible. My heart goes out to you.
