Adenocarcinoma in the colon

I'm so sorry to hear that things have taken a downward turn for you and Mr. Frosty Paws.  I know too well the heartbreak you're feeling, as well as the awful guilt when you think you've done the wrong thing.  I still put some blame on myself that we made our boy go through a surgery when he was showing signs of decline.  He never quite recovered fully, and we lost him 5 months later.

It's true that we make decisions out of deep love for our furbabies - and for most of us, they aren't 100% educated decisions.  We have to trust the guidance we're getting from the vets, and we can never know if we're absolutely doing the right thing since there are risks with every procedure, no matter how minor.  However, that doesn't reduce the amount of second-guessing I still do about our dog.  It's so hard to love someone so much that you want to do anything possible to help him, yet not be able to talk to each other about what you want, what he's feeling, what he's willing to go through.

Hopefully, you're just seeing some surgery recovery issues due to pain or weakness, and your baby will improve in another day or two.  In the meantime, shower him with affection, keep him snuggly warm, and let him hear your voice as much as possible.  My heart goes out to you.

Thank you everyone..very much.   I called the specialist back again.  They said I could bring him in for a Sentinel patch but it can take up to 12 hours to work.  I hate putting him in the car and taking him over there while he is already stressed.  Gosh I can't make a decision anymore.  I keep looking at him panting and shaking.   I'm not sure what to do....I begged them to let me pick up the patch and I'll put it on him but they won't do it because its a controlled substance.

Am lighting a candle and saying a prayer to help eleviate Mr. Frosty Paws pain and quick recovery. And while I am at it, there is one for you too for comfort and peace.

Hugs to you both. The patch will help once it kicks in. Poor baby.
I feel so bad for him. I feel bad for any of our furbabies that are ill, sick, in pain, or what ever the case may be. Sometimes I wish I could bare their pain for them.

Holding the two of you in my prayers and thoughts.

duchpaws; The patch should help him feel better and rest better tonight. You can do it; it probably won't be as hard on him as you think and when you're back home and he's feeling better you'll be glad you took him.

You are going thru so much and I'm so sorry. I hope by now you are there and home with patch in place.   I pray for your peace and Frostys recovery.  Don't let yourself get down.  You did NOT do this only for yourself..you did it to give Frosty life and love.    Don't look back!   I pray that all goes well for you tonight, with rest and comfort.

Thank you very much for all your prayers and encouragement.   Thursday was a pretty bleak day for us.   They gave me another pain med that goes with dermamaxx since I didn't want to bring him in because he was stressed as it was...

I am very happy to report he is doing loads better today.   He ate a little soft dog food and some baby food.   Tonight when I got home from work he even ate a few pieces of a Begging Strip treat!    The weather is absolutely beautiful so we got out the lawn chairs and played with everyone in the back yard.  Lots of kisses and ear scratching for Frosty while the other crazy clowns played chase and tug of war.   I know my monkeys days are numbered..but it makes it easier to have the encouragement of everyone here and the beautiful time god gave him today.

I know he might still have complications from the latest procedure I put him through but he did have a few bowel movements and no blood in the stool!!  for a change :-).

Thank you all again for again giving so many words of comfort.

Patti - that is great news that the extra pain meds helped and you were all able to enjoy a beautiful day.  It's so nice to enjoy those moments when all seems well.  I hope it continues thru the weekend and much longer.

I'm so relieved to hear he's better today; I also hope that you enjoy many more nice moments with him. I want to apologize for being pushy about trying to convince you to take him in for the patch. It looks like you did the best thing for him by getting another pain medication to go with the dermamaxx.
