Ha, I cooked some ground meat and was leaving it to cool on top of the counter and man jumped up and knocked the bowl down he wanted it so bad.  :)

In the house they are in the same room as I am or they are crated.

I can't even take a shower without my dog wanting to jump in [:D]

That's great!  Well, not about getting food off the counter [;)] but the hungry part is.

If you are having financial trouble, but have a sick dog, it is still your responsibility to provide care.  Failure to do so is animal cruelty in many states and you can go to jail for that.  Some rescue groups or shelters may be willing to help, even if you have to surrender the pup to them (it's better than not being able to care for him).  Or, you could seek help from one of these groups:

I agree that you should talk to your vet about your situation, and ask if there's some way you can work off the bill, or delay payment.
If you would go the extra mile to help a kid, but not a dog, perhaps you should have children, but not dogs.

That's the stuff you gotta watch out for, what if that had been hot??  I'm glad he seems to be feeling much better though.  [:)]

This sounds similiar to what happened to Maddi (although she wasn't quite as sick as your pup) when I had a bad bag food. I bought a new bag from a different company as soon as  I narrowed it down to what I thought was and she was instantly better.

Did you just open a new bag? What are you feeding him normally?

Yes!  I usually feed him purina chow puppy but since I moved back with my parents they have some cheap puppy chow.

Anyway my dog seems to be doing a LOT better.  Almost like nothing happened.

Do your pup a favor and do some research into dog food and start feeding him high quality food.  ;Purina Puppy Chow is not a very good food and I can't imagine what the cheaper kind is.  I know you're short on money but for not a lot more than what you pay now you can get a much better food.  You obviously care a lot about this puppy and he'll be much healthier for it.

I'm in Louisiana, a little too far :P

    Thanks, though.

Anyway, my dog is perfect today.  He even tore up a little carpet :-|  I guess this means that he is ready to play.

If your dog is vomiting, stop feeding him! Not indefinitelly but if the vomiting is not due to a disease or virus like parvo he will not stop vomiting until his GI tract has been rested. Something may be irritating it and if so feeding him....even rice will continue the cycle. So what you should do is:

    1. This is an emergency, you need to get medical attention to your dog.
    2. If you can't get medical attention, try resting the GI tract. No food but all the water he wants. After 24 hours give him rice ONLY, no meat, nothing, just rice for one day then slowly start him on meat in the rice and food a few days later. If it is a GI problem the worst thing you can do right now is feed him meat mixed into your rice (the fats from the meat will make it worse). When you do add meat back in, don't fry it, boil it or however else but no fats! You don't even really have to add meat, it is more our way as pet owners to make sure they get their protein but missing a coupld days will not hurt them.

Note-There is not a dog out there that will starve itself unless there is a serious medical problem. They will not go more than 4 days without eating unless something is majorly wrong.

As a side note...you can't rule out parvo from guessing. Tests have to be done and Anorexia can be one of the biggest signs of parvo. If you cannot afford medical attention for this pup maybe you should take him somewhere that they can afford it.

    Good luck!

Just trying to make a connection here. You said you live in Louisianna? Would that be in an area that was flooded by Katrina?
I am hearing stories of pets having alot of illnesses that have been exposed to these areas. One of my clients has been going to New Orleans (her husband is a contractor) and she has three yorkies. All three of them have been getting some type of infections ever since visiting. These are different infections that are hard to pin down and are treated generally, usually with antibiotics and steriods, but the vets here are very puzzled.
I wonder if there is a cluster of illnesses that can be linked to the flood zones amongst pets and or humans?

    Just a thought.
