Cujo is still having problems with his tonsils and his vet is out of town. I had to play phone tag for 4 days with her fill in then I gave up and went in so I couldn't be ignored. The Baytril again helped slightly but didn't "cure" the problem. I explained to the fill in about what the regular vet said woud be the next step, and got in an arguement with her. She stated she doesn't believe in giving dogs a tonsilectomy and the only reason it should be done is if its a chronic condition. Cujo has had it 5 times in his life and really this last bout has been going on for about two months. I don't know what she considers chronic. She told me to wait until his regular vet is back in town. That was fine because at that point I wouldn't have trusted her to do it but then she didn't want to give him any more meds. When he is not on the Baytril it becomes much worse, where he won't hardly eat because it hurts to swallow, and of course that makes him very weak and lethargic. I explained this to her and told her I couldn't wait a week and she acted like I was a nut case who just wanted my dogs on meds. She absolutely refused stating she needed to exam him. Well Cujo was waiting for me in the car so I brought him in and said fine go for it. After she examed him she sorta got red in the face, prescribed the Baytril again and something to reduce the secreations then admitted she had never done the operation and had only seen it done. I don't know why she didn't just admit that at the start. And why she couldn't have looked at his chart
This round of Baytril is doing the same as before. He eats ,has short bouts of playfullness but I can still tell he is uncomfortable. It keeps it under control but thats it. I don't know much about the surgury but this has got to end. He has just be sick for too long
