my dog is sick can i help him

my dog is not eating anymore since we moved into the house where his brothers and some other dogs live we gave him his own dish in our room which doesnt seem to help. He's a 11 months old bordercollie/labrador mix. He's recently started vomitting i believe the lack of eating to be the source of whatever is making him sick or whatevers making him sick is why hes not eating. the vomit was kinda yellow and foamy at first, which is how he reacts to grass at times, but now he jsut hacks until saliva with traces of red (i believe to be blood) come out i dont really live close any place where i can take him at least night tonite what could this be and what should i do and do you have any other information to give me? Perhaps know of any herbal remedies if any I have a very large selection of herbs in my garden. anything would be useful. also, he is also very uncomfortable could i give him some pet asprin?

Well, there's your problem. How many treats is he eating?
    • Bronze
not lots one maybe every other time he comes in

How many a day? Do the other dogs get the same food as him, or is theirs different?

before we moved here he was fed iams smart puppy for large dogs formula when we moved here his brothers began eating the same so his diet didnt change. he probably gets 3 treats a day.

I'd quit giving him treats. He could just be holding out for them.

Is he playing with his brothers? Drinking? Pottying normally?

You might consider looking into a better quality food. Iams is pretty expensive to feed, and not that great of a food. Chicken Soup costs about the same, and you'll feed less.

he does play normally with them he doesnt go poddy as much but his two brothers are very territorial so they mark everywhere he however has been raised seperate and has no territory issues at least that are evident . and he seems to drink jsut as much if not more

he has settled down now and seems very comfortable at least. he still hasnt eaten but i can get him to the vet first thing in the morning and i appreciate all of your help and appreciate you concern will that be okay as long as he seems normal or should i still be concerned immediatly

It sounds like he'll be fine til the morning. How long has he lived with his brothers? Are they intact? Is he? Maybe he's just adjusting.

Hi Mickey, yeah I would make sure to get him checked by the vet if he has not been eating and is still vomitting. You don't want to let him get dehydrated, so make sure he is at least getting some ice chips or so. At least if he is acting okay, he should be fine until you get him to the vet.
I'm not sure aspirin could help if his tummy is sick, they say in a human aspirins cause stomach problems.
He hasn't been on any new medications or got any shots or anything at the vet lately, has he?

He has been getting plenty of water and definitely isn't dehydrated, but I will be sure to take him in the morning... and he hasnt had shots in 3-4 months. and yes they are all intact still

You might consider neutering them before they have worse territory issues, and possibly develop relationship issues.

Oh, and if you really think his tummy is upset, chamomile tea helps. For a dog his size, you could use about 1/2 cup, if he'll drink it. Mine LOVE it.
