Dog throwing up.

    Dog throwing up.

Hi all. My sister's dog just threw up several times. He hasn't eaten today, and it's thick yellow vomit. His appetite wasn't normal for maybe a week, he's a total pig and he snubbed his food a few times. And a few days ago, he threw up a really small amount of clear fluid with like four whole soggy pieces of kibble, and it was 6-8 hours after he ate. But he's seemed to be fine for a few days now, except for just throwing up. And last night actually, he was foaming at the mouth a little bit, but acting normal.

I'm just trying to figure out why this is happening.

For a little background, he and my sister moved in here 4 weeks ago. He ate Iams for a couple years before that, and had been eating Purina Puppy Chow for a few days. When he moved in here, we switched him to Innova Evo, which he couldn't handle, he had really bad gas and loose poops. After two weeks of that, helped by pumpkin, but not fixed, we switched him to Innova adult, which he's now been on for almost 2 weeks, I guess, and he now has normal poops and no gas.

Any insight into why he's throwing up? He's also very itchy right now, as is my dog, if that could somehow be connected (which I doubt, but I thought I'd mention it anyway). I know it's hard/impossible to figure this out over the internet, but he's not my dog, and my sister has no money to take him to the vet. If it comes down to it, and he gets worse or obviously needs to go, I'll put it on a credit card, but honestly, I'm trying to avoid that.

    Thanks for any help.

any cause would be a guess but for the next, about 24 hours, give him no food and just dishes of ice cubes...give the gut a rest.

Chelsea -- not good.  Honestly I'd take him to the vet -- such delayed digestion can mean some bad stuff -- it's not just going way.  That would be MY take on it. (and remember I do know you and your family's situation ... too risky when you've got Cherokee -- this could be gut bacteria or even kidney/liver stuff).
