diarhhea

    diarhhea

I had posted a thread about how Ash was vomiting and having diarrhea. Well, the vomiting stopped after about 14 hours, but the diarrhea has continued and is going on 3 days now. I'm thinking it's because I switched her food last week to Innova and Evo (mixing it). Should I be concerned about this? Is this normal? I've switched her food before, but she's never had diarhhea for this long. I really don't want to take her off of this food because she likes it so much.

Willow has irritable bowel and has had many, many bouts of diarrhea.  The vet told me anymore than three days and I need to call her.  You might not have to bring her in, but it's been too long and she' probably needs some medication to stop it.

I DO think you need to worry about dehydrating after that long of diarrhea.  Is she acting sick?  Are you still feeding her?   Did you try canned pumpkin?  It sometimes helps firm up the stool,,,and might just work if her problem is from changing food.  But make sure she is getting liquids in her, diarrhea makes them loose a lot.

Personally I would be concerned, that's a long time for a bout of diarrhea. I would call your vet for advice.   ;Perhaps you should consider a bland diet of rice and chicken till her tummy feels better and than go back to the food you want her on gradually.
