White, Foamy vomit?

    White, Foamy vomit?

Ash is sick. She woke up at around 4 AM and threw up some white, foam looking vomit. She did it about 2 times in a row. Then she woke up again at 7:00 AM threw up the same stuff again about 2 more times. Then again at 7:30 (3 more times) and again at 8:30 (2 times). She fell asleep for about an hour and then woke up again at almost 10 AM and threw up again, 3 more times. By this time, some yellow stuff was mixed in with the white foamy stuff. She fell back asleep and again at 10:45 she threw up 2 more times. Then AGAIN at 11:30 AM.

I normally would've already had her in the vet by now, but she's thrown this stuff up before, but never like this. Also, the other times she has thrown this stuff up, I took her the vet each time and they just feel around her and tell me to keep an eye on her, no feed or water, and if it continues for over 24 hours, then I have to bring her back in.

I also don't know if this matters at all, but all morning her stomach was making LOUD noises. You could definitely hear something going in there. She wasn't having any diarhhea until about 1:00 PM. Now she is having diarhhea. She's just kinda laying around, which isn't like her at all. My mom and I looked up some stuff in our dog medical book and we think that she ate something. My mom says that she's been eating a lot of grass in her backyard so could that be it?

I called her vet and they told me that I should just monitor her (just like they always say) and if it progresses thru tomorrow then I should bring her in.

Does anyone know what this foam stuff is? Do you think it sounds like she ate something bad? I mean, 14 times of throwing up is pretty bad, but she's been worse before. I don't know what to do.

Other than the grass, is there anything else she might've eaten?  My dogs eat grass all the time and never throw up, but I guess it could be a problem or maybe the grass eating was her way of trying to calm her stomach.  It's interesting that she didn't throw up any grass too, so it must've digested some.  I can only say that for me, throwing up 14 times would really alarm me and the fact that she has episodes like this seems odd.  Is it possible that the food she's getting isn't agreeing with her?

For some reason, I don't think the food is the problem. And she has thrown this stuff up before, but not on a consistent basis. It's very rare, but I've seen it before.

I asked my mom  (Ash goes to my mom's while I'm at work) and my mom says that she's been eating a lot of the grass (which she never really does) and other than that, all the plants that used to be back there have been removed. There is a lot of bark back there though. Could that do it? Also, there's a small (really small) koi fish pond that she sometimes sneaks over too and drinks the water out of. We always catch her when she goes over there though because we can here her. She has to jump a fence to get over to that pond and she rarely does it, but has done it before. Could the water be making her sick?

There's also a really mean neighbor that shares a fence with my parents. He's always hated our dogs and we've suspected numerous times that he's tried to poison them in some way. We know he's thrown cans at them over the fence. Those are the only things I can think of.

Does she only do this if it's been a long time since she's eaten?  Usually they vomit up bile when their tummy is empty.  I would definitely try to keep her away from the koi pond.  I would imagine that the algae and other stuff probably could upset the digestive system too.  It could be that she has some health problem that's causing this.  If it continues, I'd ask the vet to do a further workup on her.  Hopefully it's nothing serious though, but as I said, 14 times seems like a lot of vomiting.

    Any news on Ash????

Well, Ash was pretty much laying around until about 45 minutes ago. She's with my mom right now and my mom said that Ash got up and she was just more like her normal self. She took Ash outside to go the bathroom and Ash wanted to play with a ball. She hasn't thrown up since about 2 PM and no more diarhhea either. My mom's kept her inside and we still haven't fed her. My mom has only given her some ice chips. She had drank some water earlier this morning and threw it right  back up. So it looks like she's getting better, thank God.

I still think I should probably take her into the vet on my next paycheck though to get some more work done on her. I agree that it's not good that she has gone through this before and we still don't know why. So a vet visit will probably happen this weekend.

Good luck! I think ice chips are good.  But if she throws up again too much I would take her in, you don't want her to get dehydrated!
Your story reminds me of one weekend a couple of years ago with Ollie, he was sleeping in our bed and got up several times and threw up mainly white stuff, and then the next morning started with runny stools. I actually stayed home from work with him that Monday (of course I was up all night with him AND washing my carpet)  He did end up having "the runs" for weeks after that.    Honestly I always thought it had something to do with the fact that I had taken him to the dog park that day and he kept drinking puddles of water.   I think the worst thing you can do is let your dog drink out of streams, lakes, puddles, etc.
I hope you will report that Ash is 100% soon!
