Hi, I am a newbie here. My almost 3 year old maltese poodle has been having allergy problems and have been licking, chewing his paws for sometime now. It has gotten a lot worse recently and we switched his dog food to Van Patterns sweet potato and duck 5 months back but have not noticed much change. I took him to the vet yesterday and the vet prescribed Vanctyl P for him. Half a tablet 2 times a day (every 12 hours) for the first 3 days then, once a day for the next 3 days then every other day for the next 5 days. I was told that that he will be extra thirsty and hungry when he is on this pill. I gave him the first dose at 6.30pm yesterday and he pee'd once at 9.30pm on my bedroom floor and another time at 11pm on the stairs. I took him outside to pee once between 9.30pm and 11pm. it seems that both times he was oblivious to the fact that he had pee'd and he wasnt behaving like himself. he seemed really tired. Is this normal? Should I give him a quarter of a pill instead of half. I left a message for my vet but have yet to hear from her. Thanks for any advise/info
