best skin/coat supplement?

    best skin/coat supplement?

. Ok, I confess, I tried a different food with poultry fat, so I'm guilty, since he obviously is allergic/sensitive to chicken/poultry. [sm=blush.gif]  He hasn't started any itching/scratching but his hair has started falling out again.  I'm going back to the solid gold/nutro nat. choice canned lamb& rice. But I need to know if there is an additional supplement I can give him that would help his skin and coat even more?

besides food, you coudl try bathing him in some mild shampoo such as oatmeal. I think it's great, it makes their fur silky and their skin well conditioned! Diet is also extremly essiential to the coat, i would suggest giving her an egg along with her regular dog food. I know a few people that do (i do occasionally) and it really does a lot of good!

thanks guys. I've ordered from jeffers before....they're good for things you can't find elsewhere sometimes. also, a concern is  since he is allergic to chicken, ( chicken fat in kibble doesn't seem to be an allergen for him ) would egg, being a chicken product - be an allergen?

I also use relief shampoo and conditioner, which soothes his skin also.

He gets brewer's yeast which seems to help, and apparently keeps the fleas/ticks off too, but I was wondering what kind of supplement might be the best.

I really wouldn't think that he would have a reaction to the egg, considering that the eggs you get from the store aren't fertilized so in a sense they aren't really even chickens. I don't think it would hurt anything, Eggs would really help his coat!

Where do you think eggs come from, cows?  Of course his dog could have a reaction to eggs.  There are much better things he could give his dog then something that could set off his allergies.  Try Omega 3.  I give it to my elderly Giant Schnauzer who was going totally grey and had thinning hair and her coat and body have perked right up.  I also give it to my middle aged Giant who has terrible allergies that show up on his skin and he's been great since I've been giving him the Omega 3.  I definitely would not give him an egg.  He may or may not be allergic but there's more likely the chance that he would have a reaction then that he wouldn't being that eggs come from CHICKENS (this coming from my doctor who also just happens to own chickens).  I get my Omega 3 from [linkhttp://www.shaklee.net/livingahealthierlife]www.shaklee.net/livingahealthierlife[/link].  Click on Nutrition once you get to the site and then on Fish Oils and you'll get to the product called Omega Guard.  I know it's pure coming from this company and not contaminated with toxic fish oils.  Good luck with your pooch.
