Do you know whats wrong

I have a poodle who is 5 years old............He has been limping and the vet said he did not have arthritis. Out of no where he has a bold purpulish spot on his upper back. Do you think it a cut got infected?... he doesn't scratch it so I doubt he has mange. Do you think he has cancer? The same vet gave him a lime disease test with negative results...Thanks

Did the vet see the spot? Did he check for a fever? Is he limping on the front or rear legs, because if the spot is part of the cause and it's on his upper back then he would be limping on his front legs. If the vet didn't see the spot I would take the dog back and have him check it. I sure hope someone else chimes in.
