    Dry paws

So Dante went to the beauty shop today and got his nails trimmed. The lady mentioned that his paws are really dry. I guess I am just used to the way his paws look/feel so I didn't think anything of it. Are you supposed to do anything for dry paws? Do they make doggie lotion?[:D] Just wondering...

    I love your aviator btw.

Anyway if you are talking about the pads being dry, try using Bag Balm on them. Wonderful stuff. It will heal dry cracked pads, good for cuts, scrapes, wounds, and burns. You can find it in Wal Mart in the pet section. It is in a green square can. WONDERFUL stuff.

I will go to Walmart today and get some! It is the pads of his paws that are dry. Is that just something that can happen with age? I've never had a dog with really dry paws. But then again I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where the weather is mild and now live in the desert in CA! He is totally an indoor dog so it's not from walking around on pavement all day...
Thanks for the compliment on my picture! I love his big ol' paws!

I wouldnt give a human multi to a dog as it contains things they dont need like zinc, which can cause issues for them.  If you want to supplement them, things like fish oil and vitamin E work wonders.  Or, they make doggie multis but I would never give a human multi to a dog full time.

I like to use utter balm, it's similar to bag balm but is a little softer. I'm not shure where to get it, maybe a feed store? The vet orders it in bulk but it last forever so we never have run out the whole time I've been there. We use it on several animals. It's great to sooth rashes and helps mosten dry skin. Sometimes I even use it when my hands get dry, works great! A girl I work with uses it on her baby for diper rash. Any cream for a cows utter should work on your dogs paws.

I definitely need to get either bag balm or utter cream because Gingerbread's paw pads are extremely dry!!

    Just a side note....

You don't want to make their pads soft. Soft is bad. They need to be somewhat rough, because they're walking around barefoot all the time. Their feet would probably be more prone to injury if they were soft, like protected human feet are (mine aren't, b/c I only wear shoes if I have to, but some people keep their feet covered and soft...).

When I first read your post, I thought you were saying that your VET recommended human vitamins from Walmart.
