    PetsMart grooming...

Hi!  I took Shenzi to PetsMart last night for a wash/brush/ears/nails.  It was her first time!  Can I just say that it was great!  I really appreciated the brushing b/c Shenzi hates to be brushed.  In fact, she'd rather EAT the brush than be brushed.  She's shedding her undercoat and they cleaned that up!

Anyway, just wanted to give props to petsmart grooming...and at 9.99, why wouldn't I!  LOL

p.s. I don't know if that price is for puppies, small dogs, etc though...

I've been taking my guy to Petsmart since we've had him.  They've always done a good job on him since he was a pup.  There's one particular lady that we always get to groom Boomer as we like her work.

how often do you take him?  I forgot to ask the groomer how often we should go.  Shenzi gets stinky after a few days...well she did after the last time I gave her a bath...LOL

We take him around every 6 - 8 weeks.  What type of dog do you have?

Oh my goodness,  What a beautiful dog!!!! I have never seen a dog with coloring like that.  She is just georgious.  I have never taken Jake for grooming because he is such a CRAZY boy.  But if I do I will surely chekc out Petsmart.  Thanks for the tip.

Your dog is beautiful/cool! You know what she looks like to me? One of those Tasmanian Tigers (they're extinct now). I believe this is a stuffed one in a museum:

I used to take my dog to Petsmart, I only went once a year, he'd always get Wash/nails/ears/haircut, and it was around $50...the first couple years it was like $36 but then they raised it to $50. This was the first year I didn't go because it seemed kind of expensive. Instead, I bought some clippers for $50 and I clip his hair now, and I'm glad because it's not just once a year I do it like every 2 months.

I do think Petsmart did a great job every time I took him there, it just wasn't in my budget.

Shenzi is so gorgeous! $9.99 is the puppy price. It'll probably be about twice that, when she hits six months, just so you know;)

For a dog with that type of coat, I'd say every 2-8 weeks, depending on lifestyle, etc. Really, you should be able to go longer without a smell, but puppies tend to get into trouble, LOL.

I live in Canada, but I did read on a different, breed specific board about the $9.99 "special" charged by the poster's PetSmart for services as you described - available on certain days during specific hours.  Haven't seen that in Canada - but I have seen 2 Eskies being groomed at our local PetSmart - they were both shaved to the pink!  I swear my guy looked at me in horror as we watched through the window.  No way is he going to lose his undercoat and very enticing (to other dogs) tail.  $9.99 would sure be good for a bath and brush out though, especially for mud loving Eskimos.  The Eskie fur does not growing lengthwise, and the mud does brush out, but my very white dog is usually somewhat grey.  He also doesn't blow his coat - ever - so is usually groomed about every 3 months.  Doesn't like it (after all he is very sensitive about his own person) but sure loves the way he looks after being "done" as he struts his stuff down the street with everyone commenting on what a pretty "girl" he is.  Well he is a very pretty boy, who doesn't lift his leg - heck very easy to get confused.

How funny!  We call her our little hyena b/c she has these ears that stand up...well, now she does this weird thing where her right ear stands straight up and her left flops!  It's kind of an "er?" look.  LOL

Aw, I always wanted to take Rory to the groomer.....but she's a pit and I clip her nails myslef so there isnt much to do, I feel like it would be a waste. Thats ok, I still brush her all teh time and she even lets me blow dry her after the batch, we pretend primp its ok!

I tried several groomers (including Petsmart).  My problem with Groomers is two fold.  First my girl starts shaking the minute we walk in the door and I don't want to put her through that trauma.  Secondly and most important, all of the shops that I have taken her to make me leave her for 3-4 hours which I will not do again.  So I bought clippers and the DVD instructions and started gooming her myself.  Both of us are much happier now.
