April 2, 2015 one nice while playing with my dog I noticed she had a light spot on the top of her head, I go into examine it and notice she balding... She has had scabs on her ear since we adopted her from the shelter... My first thought was that it might have been dry skin from over bathing, my husband instantly went to the worst case scenario and thought it was ring worms.
April 3, 2015 my Little chi-weenie was diagnosed with Sarcoptic mange from a local vet. The skin scraping was a terrible thing to watch but she came out positive... The vet instantly gave her a shot of ivermectin insuring me that it would kill the little buggers, then gave me topical Revolution to apply exactly one week after the ivermectin shot.
In desperation of wanting to help my poor baby we Isolated her into the garage and turned it into our new living room. We gave her Borax baths to help kill the buggers and stayed in the garage until our vet said she could come back inside.
April 10, 2015 we gave her, her first topical treatment of Revolution, and discontinued the borax baths but continued to change her bedding daily.
April 17,2015 we took our little dog to the vet for a secondary skin scrapping, this time the vet came in to inform us that he was no longer seeing any adult mites only eggs and larva and instructed us to continue her on the revolution treatment and gave us Virbac Keratolux shampoo to start bathing her in and informed us that she should be ok to come back into the house.
April 26,2015 we gave her another topical treatment of Revolution as instructed.
April 27,2015 Today... It has become even more apparent that her hair loss has gotten even more severe. What was once secluded to her head is now all over her body. I am officially have doubts on the vet we took her too... If all these things we gave her is supposed to be killing the little parasites why is my little love getting worse?
Do we need we have to isolate my baby again?
Is the selemectin not working?
Should we try a Borax bath again?
Why is she losing hair all over now?
shouldn't we be seeing signs of improvement?
Why did my vet give us Keratolux Shampoo and how exactly is it helping my little one?
Now that she's back in the house she is super happy and playful. she's still itchy but not to the point that it stops her from sleeping but the extensive hair loss is officially starting to scare me and I feel like the vet we went to is an idiot... I have looked all over the internet for other peoples experiences with mange. is what I'm experiencing normal? I'm I just being impatient?
I love my little one and just want her to get better now. can anyone please shed some light?
