    Red & Swollen Toes

My Bichon Frise has two red & swollen toes. He licks them constantly. I noticed it yesterday but he tends to lick a lot so I thought nothing of it. Today they are swollen, but he doesn't seem to be in pain when I touch them. What should I do? Is there anything I can do at home?

Hi, It could be allergies, but my concern is it could be a bite of some kind. For something like this I would take my dog to the vet. Something like this needs to be seen as it could be a number of things. So in order to treat it correctly I would seek vet attention. Please keep us posted.

Absolutely do *not* just do something at home.  This could be many things, but the vet needs to determine.  Typically if it's allergies they lick the whole foot, not just certain toes.  Redness indicates inflammation -- it could honestly be anything from a  split toe-nail that is difficult to see or something more incidious.
