Limping - glucosamine & chondroitin OR Knox?

Feels strange to be back here & I'm unsure where to even post this, everything looks so different.  My last time here was when I lost my sweet Cocoa to IMHA and not a day goes by that I don't think of her, sigh.

I now have 2 rescues and am concerned about Lucy - aprox 7yr old labradoodle.  We had a rough winter and due to ice, I wasn't able to walk them as often.  I'm now noticing she's developed a bit of a limp (rear r leg), really needs to stretch it out after laying, but can run after she's had time up on it.

Anyway I'm wondering IF it would benefit her IF I started glucosamine / chondroitin ?  I'm not sure if Callie is still around, but I remember her many times suggesting Knox.  I have no idea if one would be better or amounts?

    Thanks for any info, Linda

I'm here and my email is still callieatcritturs@yahoo.com if you need me.  Knox NutraJoint is STILL my go to.  It's not a pain reliever -- it's actually going to help rebuild cartilage.

However that said -- PLEASE take this dog to a place where they can really diagnose this -- you don't know it's arthritis *yet* ... and if it IS arthritis you don't want to exacerbate it by having them over-use the joint.  Exercise is important but it can be a doubled-edged sword if you aren't positive what's going on.

Glucosamine/chondroitin are "hydrators" -- all they do is "plump up" whatever cartilage is still there so it cushions better.  Stop using it then it stops helping.  Chondroitin is something of a very mild anti-inflammatory.

But honestly diagnosis is truly key ... once you know what it is then you can proceed.
