My pup Cody was diagnosed with Cushing's and Diabetes in 2010. We went through the trials and tribulations as all pup families do in these situations. Cody went blind in May of 2011, we were fortunate we were able to have eye surgery done on within 2 weeks. It was amazing...within 1 day after surgery she could see 100%. BEST thing we ever did, we were so lucky. Cody was such a trooper, in all ways and with all her trials. What a girl :-) We lost Cody (she was 10 years old) June 25th. 2012, then exactly one week (July 2, 2012 to the minute 1:16am) later we lost her sister Riley (just shy of 14 years) to renal failure. Riley was a victim of the chicken jerky debacle involving tainted chicken jerky from China. The next July in 2013 we lost our grandog Topher to a hit and run car accident. The one constant in my life has always been the love of dogs, since I was a toddler. When in 2013 my job of 30 years came to an end since College, I refocused on priorities, mine were my 4 legged kids (I still had 2, 12 year olds and a 2 year old at home. Since 2001 one of my pups, Austin had always had allergies, over the course of 2001 to the present. Austin has been on every dog food on the market including ZiWi Peak out of Australia, tried every medication and different shampoos and different treats. All the steps in my life lead up to today, up to www.pupinthecity.com. I set goals, made decisions, moved ahead to a new life, one rewarding instead of a paycheck job. So heart in hand I created PupInTheCity.com. I decided the only way to keep my own kids safe was to create treats at home. Treats that had one ingredient for the 4 different jerkys I make, and limited ingredients for the other treats. Then it occurred to me what was lacking, treats for special needs. So I researched Cushing's & Diabetes in dogs, with my own knowledge and research on supplements & ingredients came up with 3 treats so far. One treat is for Cushing dogs, it contains ingredients which help to naturally reduce the adrenal gland's over production of hormones & cortisol. The diabetes treats with ingredients that help mimic insulin and helps improve blood sugar regulation. Last, the liver low protein treats. Please feel free to check www.pupinthecity.com out or email me with questions and concerns. Thank you for reading my story. Godspeed to you with pups who struggle daily.
